I used to love take out from here but went into the restaurant and ate there tonight and was completely disappointed. Let's start with us going into the bar for happy hour only to be told that we couldn't have the happy hour appetizers without buying alcohol. I'm pretty sure that's not even legal and will be asking the liquor board. Plus, here's the menu. Can anyone show me where it says you must buy an alcoholic beverage? Then the only thing we requested was that they cook our taquitos extra well so of course they come out barely cooked at all. No seriously, the tortilla didn't look like they bothered cooking it at all. Very blonde. Then lastly, when I go to Azteca or Montezumas and order shrimp mojo de ajo the shrimp are sauteed in butter and chilis and come out in butter and I was hard pressed to find any butter or spice to dip the shrimp in. All around disappointing.

Wanted to try something different because we're new to the area, and to be very honest, the selection of cultural restaurants is narrow. So we decided to give it a chance and I have to say, it was absolutely worth every penny. We were seated very quickly and given complimentary chips and salsa and were also served our drinks fast as well. My wife ordered the two (2) chimichanga combination dinner served with a very generous portion of rice & and beans, and I ordered the three(3) beef enchiladas combination dinner, also served with a generous portion of rice & beans. If you enjoy chimichangas, then you will definitely enjoy them here, and you really want a good enchilada, then stay in your seat and order a couple. My wife and I are looking forward to returning to Mazatlan!. I forgot to mention that the service here is impeccable as well.

A wonderful experience with authentic music and decorations to immerse ourselves in a little touch of Mexico while eating. Staff greeted us politely, and got us seated right away. Waiter was very quick and responsive to our needs throughout the meal. Food is top notch. A basic chips and sauce was provided before ordering the real meal. Loved the chips and the sauce was pretty mild. Which is nice for non-spicy types. The beef chimichanga was perfect for my appetite, and their sides with some sour cream and guacamole made it even better. Drinks are the basic pepsi products, and on the house water is pretty good too.

The food is great! But my star is based on my last experience. My husband and I have been coming here for years and stopped coming. We were celebrating his birthday and he wanted to go have dinner there since it's his favorite place to go to. We got sat at our usual booth and the waiter came by (he wasn't our usual one, we usually always get Josue; he's great.) We ordered our drinks and the server was checking our ID's and I said it was my husbands birthday. He smiled and said happy birthday and said he'd be back with with our drinks. As he was walking away I heard him say in Spanish to his coworker why did I think that he cared? I'm just wasting his time and he doesn't have time to sing happy birthday to my husband. I understand that I could have spoken with the manager but I waited for him to come back with our drinks and proceeded to order. In Spanish. My husband doesn't speak Spanish so he had no idea what I had just heard and I didn't want to ruin his birthday and ask him to go somewhere else for dinner. I could tell the waiter was a little flustered when he took my order but I mentioned nothing and of course was exceptionally nice to us the rest of the evening. He asked us if we wanted dessert and we said no. He asked if he wanted us to sing to him and again we said no. I didn't want us to be an inconvenience for him since apparently we were an...

Went on Cinco de Mayo. Got seated right away. Not too busy. Place looks great. Chips and salsa came fast and was refilled often. Both were very good. Took forever for the food to arrive but that was okay. I ordered Seafood Chimichanga. It was the size of a small tamale. Was supposed to have mushrooms, celery and fish/shrimp inside. I did find some extremely small pieces of seafood. Ordered pinto beans but was sent refrained beans. Most of the plate was rice, beans and lettuce. I did eat everything and it wasn’t bad but not great. Wife had some type of seafood in a white wine sauce. The fish, or crab, we couldn’t tell...was hard and chewy. She had a huge plate. She brought most of it home but it went directly into the trash. It was hurting her stomach. The prices were high, for Mexican food. Hers was about $25 mine $16. The staff was friendly. No complaints there. There was nothing special about the place, besides the decor, and the quality of food didn’t warrant the higher prices. Moctezuma’s or El Toros would be a better choice for sit down chain Mexican food. Tacoma has a lot better...

Wow. 3pm on a Tuesday and it's nice an peaceful. The music volume perfectly set. The decor is pleasant. The staff is eager to serve and quick to deliver.

I ordered some beans/cheese off-the-menu to dip my chips in as a test to see if they would do it (some won't, amazingly), and he brought them right out.

I finally decided on the Carne Asada Burrito. When it came (very fast, I might add), I was amazed at the size of it. I'm 6'4, and it was literally the length/girth of my forearm.

I opted out of the Pico & Guacamole, but kept the lettuce & sour cream. They didn't skimp. It was the perfect amount to smother all over. Steak and rice and beans all rolled up inside, all perfectly cooked. I think I found a new favorite!

This isn't Taco Bell, so expect to spend $20 a head for a decent meal, a small appetizer and drink. Lunch specials are served from 11-3, and are $7-8 and up, depending on what you get.

For those of you with allergies, they clearly state that their enchilada sauce has peanut butter in it. They also serve certain things that are Gluten Free, as well...
