A few months ago I decided I needed a new desk for my home office. I donât need anything too fancy, but I do like having a good looking work space. I went online and found a few styles I liked, but I like to touch and feel the quality of furniture before I buy it. I have always liked Ashley furniture pieces due to their quality and great price points so I stopped by the Ashley furniture store and I found a good looking desk for $299 ($100 under by budget). There is a locally owned furniture company called Foothills Family Furniture located right by my work so I stopped by to see what the desk would cost if I ordered it from them. I ordered some bar stools from them about 6 months ago and I know they do their best to meet or beat advertised prices of their competitors so it is worth my time to see what they can do for me. The Foothills owner told me he could get me the desk for $244 plus tax. I thought it was a great deal, but I wanted to make sure my wife was on board with the style before I bought it so I told him I would be back. While out and about with my son last week I stopped by the Ashley store to look at the desk one more time before I ordered it and to my pleasant surprise it was on sale for $225. I told the salesperson that I wanted the desk and asked if it had a matching hutch and he said no. I told him I would take the desk and asked if it would be delivered to the store? He told me the desk can be delivered to my house for a nearly $70 charge or I can go pick it up in Kent (45) minutes from my house. I told him neither one of these options would work and the deal was over. I looked on Amazon and the desk was $255. I stopped by Foothills on my way home from work yesterday and the owner matched Ashleyâs price, showed me a few options for a matching hutch and ordered the desk that I can pick in a week or so.
Many retailers want to blame Amazon or other online retailers for the decline in their sales, but I feel brink and mortar stores need to focus on price and customer service and their sales will be just fine. My husband and I ordered a bed April, it took about 4 weeks to arrive, although we were told it would only be 2 weeks, but because of the pandemic, we understood. One month after receiving the bed, it broke. My husband did the best he could to fix it, several times, but to no avail. I spoke with Aaron on Oct 7th and explained what happened. He said he would check it out the following Tuesday. He came, saw what we needed said he would order the parts...long story short, it's Nov 11th (over a month) and my husband and I are still laying on the mattress in our living room. What upsets me the most is receiving the wrong information and having to call EVERY WEEK for an update. When we call, we are ALWAYS given the runaround. We are told "it will be here on Tuesday", but when Tuesday arrives, we hear nothing from Foothills!! I have complained about this to Aaron and he apologized, but we are still experiencing the same issues!! My husband spoke with Aaron on Friday, and once again he said the parts would definitely be here Tuesday...it's THURSDAY, and we still have not seen or heard from Aaron or anyone else at Foothills. I am really disappointed that Caleb is not staying on top of this. He has been so helpful in the past. I understand that things are not running as smoothly as expected due to the pandemic. But that is no excuse for the lack of communication. Customer service should be provided before, during, and after a transaction has taken place at any business. If am I told that my part will be here on Tuesday, that is what I expect. If it does not work out as planned, then I expect to be notified. Together we have called Foothills 6 times regarding this! This is the second item we have purchased from Foothills, and were planning to buy a dining room table next month, but at this point, I feel we would be better valued as customers if we purchase furniture elsewhere. Hopefully, this review will result in better communication and customer service for them in the future.    Read moreIt's hard to even express how impressed I was with Foothills Family Furniture and how much they care about their customers. I'll just tell my story and you'll quickly see the customer obsession they show.
My wife and I ordered a furniture set online from these folks at a good price. The next day, Kaleb gave us a call to let us know that the set we had ordered was on backorder and wouldn't be able to be delivered until August.
I called him back to let him know that we had guests arriving before then and couldn't wait that long. Kaleb issued us a refund that same day, and even offered to look for sets of a similar style and price that could be delivered before our guests arrived!
Kaleb followed up with an e-mail with a few different options that could be delivered in time, and I called him to let him know we were interested in one of them. He said he'd order it straight away and that we could pay for it once our refund had finished processing. All of this on a Saturday!
Here's where I dropped the ball. Kaleb thought I would call in to pay as soon as the refund processed, but somehow I thought Kaleb would call me back to arrange payment on Monday or Tuesday. By Thursday my wife and I were getting pretty nervous about having the furniture to our house by the next Monday.
Since we thought it was too late to get the furniture delivered from Foothills, we went to another store that had the set in stock and purchased/hauled it home ourselves. Little did I know that the set we wanted from Foothills was on course to be delivered that Saturday!
Now HERE is where Foothills Family Furniture truly won my future business. When the delivery men arrived on Saturday and asked us to make payment so they could make delivery, I told them I was sorry but we had purchased another set. Kaleb called me and we both apologized profusely for the confusion. Without even mentioning the trouble I'd put him to, Kaleb said he would TAKE CARE OF THIS and send the furniture back to the warehouse. And he didn't even ask for a dime.
The only thing Kaleb asked was that we consider Foothills Family Furniture for our future furniture needs. I was so impressed with their customer obsession, there is no doubt in my mind that we will.
