I went to this location for seed starting supplies. It is not laid out well at all, with all the lawn/garden products spread all over the place and with mislabeled aisles. I eventually found a nice gentleman to help me locate seed starting soil but when I picked up the bag it was all wet. I noticed the bags of organic potting soil were sitting right next to Roundup, and so I suggested maybe one of the jugs leaked. He said no that wasn’t possible, but when I checked I found a jug with a small leak on the bottom and it had leaked all over the shelf and the bags. I ended up with my hands and jacket covered in Roundup. Another employee let me use the restroom to wash my hands, but no attempts were made to immediately clean this up nor to help me find an alternative product. I notified the cashier staff and they did not seem concerned. I was really disappointed with how the situation was handled and also surprised that chemicals are kept literally right next to “organic” bags of soil. I ended up going to a different ace location and finding the right product with no trouble and no chemicals...
Read moreYou know I'm not necessarily a fan of Ace hardware... but this one takes the cake next to another 2 I will review, but, you have to suffer a anecdote of mine.
The reason I suppose I'm not a big fan is Ace is a smaller hardware store. Through out my life as an adult I've learned to navigate and came accustomed to the bigger stores like Lowes and Home Depot. I worked as a handyman with my uncle and then boss in near past doing all sorts of projects.
However, this store holds alot of good memories. Now when I was a kid, I took everything apart just to see what, or how it worked. Now, my Dad, he cashed in on this. He started showing me with older relatives how to fix and maintain thing in and or around the house.
Now this Ace Hardware is what showed me the fundamentals of home repair and upkeep. The staff was always knowledgeable. They always had that famous Ace Hardware Popcorn and they always had what you needed. This Ace has that small town vibe. That mom and pop hardware store. It's still standing and still has good people working there. So it...
Read moreI am always amazed at the customer service at Lake Ridge Ace! Today, I went in and hadn't seen Mike, the owner, in a while. I was looking for a new lawn mower after many frustrating hours and days trying to fix my old Scott's lawn mower. He spent a good 45 minutes with me going over the options at one of the busiest times of day in his store. He gave me a great deal on a Toro mower. Then, when I returned home, and tried my old mower just for kicks, it started. I returned the mower back to Ace, and there was no judgment on his part. He and the rest of the crew were completely understanding! I got home, and my old mower wouldn't start again. I realize that I can fix the carburetor, but I changed my mind once again and he gave me the same deal as I returned to buy the mower again! Talk about EXCELLENT customer service! I also love supporting the smaller franchises, as I don't think of ACE as a big box store like Lowe's or HD. Anyway, Mike and his staff are simply amazing at what they do! Knowledgeable, fair, and friendly! What more...
