I TRIED My family and friends are always teasing me about how far I am willing to go to receive quality customer service. I have lived in the Prince George County community for well over 3 decades of my life, but that has NEVER been an area I've liked to do my leisure activities in. And the AMC Magic Johnson Theatre gave me the perfect example of why this past weekend.
So First of all, I only went there because it's the closest theatre to my house and I honestly just wanted to go see a little Saturday evening show. Anyway, I pull up to the theatre and there is a fire truck blaring and ALL of the customers are standing outside. Ok...things happen, emergencies happen and for instances like that (the unpredictable) is why I go to the movies over 30 minutes early. On Saturday, although my movie wasn't until 8:00 I was there at 7:15. Once I parked and walked up, i notice that the theatre has begun to let people back in. But once we stepped into the building we quickly realize that it's a MAD HOUSE!
There are 3 different lines and no one seems to know where to go to get a ticket, or simply walk up to the agent taking the tickets if you had them on your phone like I did. The chaos was draining and because I don't even feel like telling you the whole drawn out story I'll wrap it up with this. The lack of communication by management left too much confusion. Every movie planned after the emergency incident was cancelled or pushed back and the long lines were because everyone was being issued a refund (or at least asking for one not sure how either luck faired). I on the other hand had to go through an hour with fandango to get a credit because it needed to be issued AFTER the start time of the movie (rules rules), which was much easier and allowed me to drop that DRAMA quickly and happily remind my critics that it pays to go places known for better customer service then to be...
Read moreI haven't been to this theater in years and now I know why. Last minute my daughter decided she wanted to see Wild Robot, so I checked the movie times and Magic Johnson was the earliest. We purchased our tickets before arrival for the 4:20 show. When we arrived everything was smooth. We proceeded to the concessions stand and purchased hot dogs, popcorn and drinks. We walked in the theater at 4:15 and the prior showing was just ending. People were leaving out from the prior showing. After the theater cleared we found our seats. About 10 minutes later, the cleaning crew came in. It's now about 4:25 and the movie was supposed to start at 4:20. They cleaned the theater and left. My daughter told me her hotdog bun was hard, so she pulled it off. I know at times she's picky, so I didn't think much of it, until I bit mine. The bread was extremely hard. I told her I'd take them back and she asked me to just let it go, so I did. Meanwhile, it's now 4:40 and we're sitting in the theater without any previews or ads. There was only 1 other person in the theater. I told my daughter I was going to inquire about the status of the movie. She gave me the, mommy please don't look, but this was getting ridiculous, so I went anyway. On my way out of the theater, I saw a young lady from the concessions stand and we spoke about the status of the movie. She informed me that she would tell the manager. After about 5 minutes, the ads finally started. The ads and previews continued until 5:21. Remember the movie showtime was 4:20 and the movie didn't begin until 5:21. Since our movie started so late, of course people for the next showing started entering the theater while we were still viewing the movie. This was just ridiculous. The only positive was the fact that during majority of the movie there was only 1 other person in the theater with us, probably because everyone else...
Read moreMy recent visit to the Magic Johnson Theatre left me with mixed feelings. While the theater offered a decent movie-watching experience, it was evident that the establishment was in dire need of some attention. The lack of cleanliness in both the floors and seats was disappointing, and there was a lingering, albeit slight, odor that detracted from the overall ambiance.
Let's start with the floors. They appeared worn-out and in desperate need of a deep cleaning. Stains and debris were noticeable in certain areas, which can be quite distracting during an immersive movie experience. It would greatly enhance the overall aesthetic if the management invested in a thorough floor-cleaning routine.
The seats were another cause for concern. They seemed to have accumulated grime and dirt over time, indicating a lack of regular maintenance. A deep cleaning or even a replacement of the seating could significantly improve the comfort and cleanliness for moviegoers.
Additionally, I couldn't help but notice a slight odor within the theater. While it wasn't overpowering, it did leave a subtle unpleasantness in the air. Addressing this issue by implementing better ventilation or utilizing air fresheners would be greatly appreciated by movie goers.
On a positive note, the audio and visual quality of the movies were satisfactory, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. However, these positive aspects alone cannot compensate for the lack of cleanliness and the slight odor that pervades throughout...
