This trip to Las Vegas was focused on our 3 Drunken Celts' event at The Whisky Attic; a seated tasting of 7 unique expressions per person that was crafted just for our group. It was an exceptional experience that provided some once in a lifetime bottle samples. It was an amazing experience that taught everyone in the room something, regardless of their level of experience with whiskies. From complete beginners to weathered old-timers, we all learned something new. The Whisky Attic, you see, is not a bar but rather an education center devoted to bringing a deeper appreciation of whiskies to everyone. Adam Carmer's thesis on spirits tasting provides an entirely new process to elicit the subtleties from whiskies and other spirits. Dispelling a number of myths around whiskies as well, you get a wonderful and accurate understanding of the spirit. JD handled our crowd with wonderful candor and aplomb. OK.... Every whisky enthusiast, this is a must place to see. Why I hear you ask? There is a tremendous collection of bottles available and they are accessible. In other words that bottle that you have gathering dust on in your collection that you don't want to open is probably here, for you to try. Had an amazing experience at the Whisky Attic. Took my dad for his 62nd birthday present and we were floored by how knowledgeable and hospitable Adam is! He was patient enough to answer all of my dad's questions and was even generous enough to let me add on some extra special birthday whisk(eys) on top of our tasting. I was more than happy to pay a little extra to see my dad act like a kid in a candy store! Will definitely stop by here again...
