Hello Everyone that is reading this,, please read the whole thing to get the full review.
My boyfriend and I booked our tour once we got to Vegas and were super excited to spend the entire day together experiencing this. Once we arrived at the department area, the service people inside go over the different upgrades you can add to your tour.
The tour greeter explained the additional tours within the canyon you could do, such as a helicopter tour, hummer tour or if you went to the west rim the sky walk. We opted for the hummer tour since we were doing the South Rim and that is the one thing I would recommend.
However, he also spoke about an optional upgrade for "premium seats" that are more "spacious" and offered better sight lines. We decided this would be a great option for the added space as I'm 5'8" and my boyfriend is 6'5" and the first bus to the department center was squishy. We paid the $50 USD ($25 per seat) and got ripped off. The seats are the same size, not more spacious at all. The sight lines did not appear to be any different then anywhere else on the bus and even the bus driver admittedly said the front seats (which they call premium) are some of the worst seats on the bus. To make it even worse the seats can recline and the two people in front of us reclined theirs fully and were virtually sitting in my lap.
It is a long bus ride so to be more comfortable my boyfriend went to the back of the bus to find empty seats to stretch out in while I stayed in the seats we had paid extra for, so we spent a lot of the day apart as a lot of the time is the commute on bus.
When we got back I emailed in to address this issue and was point blank called a liar by their front office manager Zachary Becham, that the tour greeter never said that it was more spacious or promised any additional leg room and that they would not refund me since I did "receive better sight lines and easier on and off coach [this was not mentioned and it wasn't easier to get off just were some of the first off, but we didn't care about that as we were not in a rush on a vacation.]" When I replied back to the email discussing the points again, they didn't even bother to respond back either through email or phone which they had both.
The two stars I have given are for the bus driver, who was honest, detailed and comedic for the tour, the canyon itself and the hummer tour which was also detailed, lots of photo opportunities and got to see a lot more then if on foot.
However the three stars lost are for the false advertising from the tour greeter (whether he admits lying to his bosses or not) which led to what I feel was theft for the less then "premium seats", the disrespect after the fact with being called a liar and not receiving any compensation for the fact we had to sit separate for a large portion of the tour just to be comfortable.
I would not recommend Gray Line after the disrespect and false advertising they gave and how small their buses really are.
This was my boyfriend and I's favorite adventure when we visted Las Vegas. We were only there for a short weekend and wanted to do a quick tour of the Grand Canyon. I did my research and I also have a friend that used to do tours at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and when I asked about this tour company and the prices she said this was the best way to go. We did the bus tour of the Grand Canyon with a quick stop to the Hover Damn and Skywalk experience and we did the Deluxe upgrade (Definitely worth the extra $10) it even includes a really good breakfast. They pick you up right at your hotel and then they shuttle you to the bus. From there they go to the Hover Damn (Don't forget to take some Damn pics!) We were one of the first ones on the bus but if I were to redo this tour we would of chose seats to the right of the bus if you are sitting down since a lot of the scenic stuff was to the right, but it was still a good trip regardless of the side we sat on. Anyways our tour guide Adam could not have been more awesome and knowledgeable! He was literally the walking encyclopedia of not only the Hover Damn and Grand Canyon but also Las Vegas. I even wrote notes from some of the interesting stuff he told us I never knew. He gave awesome recommendations and is very quick and good at what he does. So the Canyon! It was amazing I literally didn't want to leave! We were one of the very first tour buses to get to the Canyon so that made it really awesome. The skywalk was $21 to go on if you go through a tour so we definitely took that opportunity and it was breath taking. There are three stops when you get to the top and the first one is called The Ranch, my boyfriend and I skipped this part completely and went straight to the second stop which is the Skywalk. The third stop is one of the most breath taking and most beautiful. Definitely make more time to see the second and third stops than the first one. Lunch is included and you can get lunch at any of the three stops, but I would get lunch at the third stop since it has the best view while you eat. We went Mid-December so I expected it to be cold but it was a perfect day when we went. I wore boots regardless since my boyfriend and I like to hike and walk everywhere. I wore a sweater and brought a hat and gloves just incase but I never needed them. You can leave stuff on the tour bus since you ride the same one going back but we didn't have much stuff to have to store. Anyways it was an awesome awesome tour and trip, especially Adam! (Make...
Read moreWell done on providing excellent transportation between Las Vegas and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. For me personally, I went to the Grand Canyon one day and returned the next, so I had to purchase two one-way tickets--no issue for me. I did not partake in the add-on tour of the Grand Canyon that was offered. The hotel pick-up in Las Vegas was right on time, and the entire trip was punctual. While the tour guides provided some facts about places we were passing along the way, it would have been very nice to stop at one or two of them (somewhere along Route 66 or the Hoover Dam). But, to be fair, it is not mentioned that these stops are included on the tour. Instead, we just learned about them from the guides as we drove by. We stopped at the same gas station both to and from the Grand Canyon for a brief rest stop. The tour guides also played a couple of movies along the way. When we arrived at the Grand Canyon, I was told that the bus would be leaving from the drop-off point in 20 minutes, and would then be available at another pickup point nearby. I left the bus and came back only 15 minutes later to find the bus had already gone, with my luggage still onboard. I called the company and was told the bus would be available at the time and place previously mentioned--which was fine, but of little reassurance that my luggage was still safely secured on the bus. Long story short, I collected my luggage from the bus with no issue later on, but would have appreciated if the bus left the original drop off point when initially announced. Some kind of message like "you can leave your belongings--the bus will be locked until pick up" would have been appreciated, too. Also, I suggest the tour guides do some revised fact-checking about some of the places described along the way. For example, Route 66 is not the "first highway in America", but one of the most iconic in popular culture. These small details can make a big difference in the perceived legitimacy of a tour guide. Finally, I found the bus driver on the return trip drove a bit too fast for comfort--driving past trucks at high speed almost the entire way made for a bit of a nervous ride. However, all of these are small suggestions for improvement. I appreciated the efficiency, friendliness of staff, and safe, reliable transportation between Las Vegas and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, which was most important. Keep up...
