My son has attended SEAMAA Kung Fu Silat with Guru Ed since Aug 2015. For his young age he has already played soccer, baseball and football. I have never seen my son so dedicated to a discipline like this before. Guru Ed has amazing patience and each individual child's success is of the utmost importance. He has a wonderful staff, that are equally patient and talented to help our children reach their individual goals. My son hasn't missed any classes except when he broke his arm playing football last season. When he came back he was on task and ready to get his belt. Each week during the all important "mat chat" Guru Ed goes over a step in the list of disciplines or goals they must practice to get their next belt (e.g. respect, perseverance, etc). Guru Ed is teaching these boys and girls about real life, how to conduct themselves and treat others with respect, how to be confident and lastly how to deal with a bully with words before a first is EVER thrown. This is an excellent way to keep kids off the streets, healthy and responsible. SEAMAA isn't like the other programs that just take your money and not care if the child is learning any valuable skills besides the Martial Art itself. I did my research before I decided on SEAMAA for my son. I would choose it again and I recommend it to anyone who has a child who is shy, hasn't done any type of activities yet or is looking for something that allows them to compete with themself. In this setting, your only...
Read moreI started going to SEAMAA in November 2016 and have been going around four times a week ever since. I love it so much I even enrolled my 5-year-old in the children's class. (Incidentally, I'm really glad I did. They're great with kids there.)
At SEAMAA I've primarily been training in Guru Ed's Pencak Silat disciplines. I've also been training in Kru Gian's 8 Venoms Muay Thai, KRU Muay Thai, and Street Defense. Women's self-defense classes are offered as well. Guru Ed is a true master of martial arts: highly trained and certified at the instructor level in numerous styles, able to simultaneously train novices like myself alongside advanced students. Silat isn't for everyone, though, so the Muay Thai classes offer an excellent alternative. In that, Kru Gian has been a fantastic addition- he reinforces the technical artistry that Guru Ed teaches in Muay Thai, not to mention his ability to whip butts into shape.
When you go to SEAMAA there is no glass counter where you stop to buy expensive trinkets. There's no salesperson. The adults don't even wear rank belts. SEAMAA emphasizes martial arts. To someone like me whose goal is not only to look good but to one day become a martial arts master, SEAMAA is the...
Read moreI highly recommend SEAMAA and the expert training of Guru Ed and Guru Jeff. Your child(ren) will learn self-discipline, self-control, self-respect, trust and self-love as they develop the discipline and the art of Martial Arts. Guru Ed and Guru Jeff have a passion for teaching children and teach their students to believe in themselves and dig deep within to develop and accomplish physical and mental goals they believe they could not. They also focus on the whole person, as the students behavior at school, home, and in public, and as well as the students academic performance at school is measured. The students are taught the meaning of respect for self and others and must display this during class. Seeing my grandson's behavior transition and watching his confidence build since starting SEAMAA in October and achieving his goals to receive his white belt in April has convinced me that I made the absolute RIGHT decision in joining the SEAMAA family. Thanks Guru Ed...
