Iāve made several purchases from Chapter 11, the furniture and service thus far has been great. This could have and should have been a 5 star rating.
While considering the purchase of a couch set and bed frame, the owner told me I could finance the set; no interest if purchased within 90 days. Sounds great to me, he got me set up on his iPad filling out the necessary form. Super easy. He warned me that if I took longer than 90 days, I would start seeing fees. No biggie, Iāll pay it off in a couple weeks.
As it turns out, I had to pay $70 for the āinterest freeā financing, which was called a finance charge on the receipt. Still no biggie to me, the 90 days made it worth it.
After logging into the payment portal online, I realized that, in fact, it is NOT 90-day internet free financing. The full balance of what I owed was listed at the top, as a ā90 day early payment amountā. I have 90 days to pay the balance of my purchase, or the purchase price of the items will double. Also,I will be paying a $60 ārenters feeā every Friday until the full balance is paid. The $60 does not deduct from the āearly payment amountā - it is just a fee going to the financing company and not lowering the balance.
I am fortunate that I am able to pay this off immediately, and avoid all of the astronomical fees and costs. I canāt even imagine how many people, hard for cash, go into that establishment, and are taken advantage of with predatory lending practices.
Very shady - a stain on what would have been an excellent experience. This could have been avoided with proper advertising - explain that it is a FURNITURE LEASE and that there WILL be costs involved - you cannot advertise it as a no-cost payment option.
Also - I was promised a Tuesday delivery, Wednesday at the latest. No cancelation notice from the company - I had to call on Wednesday evening to find out they would not be coming until Thursday. When they eventually did arrive, they told us that they were not able to unwrap set up the furniture like they normally do, due to COVID. They said this as they were standing inside my house without masks on.

End of June 2018, returned for another furniture purchase. Even commented to Sales rep that this was our second purchase. Picking out the couch was fine, purchased for less then sticker price, according to the sales rep. Was informed couch had a 2 year warranty for any issues that may occur, great. No more then two weeks after couch was delivered the back cushion separated from the frame of the couch. Called them was asked to bring picture of issue, done. Due to schedule conflicts from both parties we were not able to meet until the first week of August- that was fine. Set a date was given a rough estimate of time. Chapter 11 was a no call no show. I was dodged from August 2018 til March 2019. I called, I stopped in, I called, stopped in, wrote emails. Asking to speak with the Manager, whom I was not able to connect with until November/December. I introduced myself- he had said 'I haven't heard of this' my reply 'I haven't heard of you'. I called twice a week from that point forward and continued to speak with the, then, manager. In my opinion, continued to get the run around. Issue is no longer there due to the fact I was able to swap out my defect couch with a completely different couch. However point being: lack of to no communication, not warranting a warranty, disrespectful due to fact it took 8 months to solve issue, take no responsibility for their poor performance towards customer... I will not be returning to Chapter 11, I don't see them being saddened by this- to me it showed they did not care for me as a customer after the initial purchase was made. In that moment, there was a chair that was broken so Chapter 11 tells me they will order me a chair that will be coming in a week do I still want to get this set? I said since it will be a week I still want the chair. Chapter 11 delivers the set and after about a month and a half, I went to chapter 11 and asked where my missing chair is. They gave me the runaround, but I was still patient and waiting until after the new year. When I went there again around Jan-feb, they told me that the chair is here, just needs to be set up and they will drop it off or I can pick it up. I left in a good mood and optimistic that they would bring it to me. Another month passes, and I go in there again, this time looking for a final solution (either a full refund or my chair). The holidays are coming up for me and I need chairs to host my family. The managers/sales person told me that they canāt issue a refund basically saying along the lines of do we look like a wholesaler, we donāt do refunds past 30 days. I told him do you think I would be asking for a refund if I had my chair. At this point I donāt wish this service on my worst enemy. I have been patient for over 6months.
