I have been a regular customer at Sharp's candies at their Regency Road, Lexington store for over 15 years now. I go between 5 and 10 times each year, for gifts, and for mostly nuts for myself. I spend an average of $100 each trip. I have never gotten one bit of candy or nuts there that wasn't of excellent quality! Also I always purchase a package of seconds for my snacking in the truck on my way home. Today there were no packages of seconds available with saddles, which are my FAVORITE . When I was offered my one free piece of candy at checkout, as is customary - I asked if I could have both a milk chocolate saddle and a dark chocolate saddle. The young woman at the cash register went to the back and got me a small milk chocolate saddle to go with the dark chocolate one I had picked off the tray. I started talking again as soon as she came out of the back, because I'm always friendly and chatty. She over talked me, to tell me that this was a one-time thing, that I should never ask again. I had never asked that before, but I had purchase nine items, spent $160, and pointed that out when asking for my second piece, and earlier that there wasn't one saddle in my pack of seconds that I purchased for myself. Also, I ALWAYS pay in cash. And I'm sure that Sharp's, as most businesses do, add in 3% to their prices, because the majority of customers pay with a card. I know this whole story sounds petty, and I guess it is. But as I was on New Circle Road driving home, I decided that I would go somewhere else to buy my candy and nuts from now on, and never returned to Sharp's. I will really miss their excellent quality candy and nuts! But this was just not the right way to treat a customer who has given them easily over ten thousand dollars worth of business...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy Papaw always got candy from here for Mamaw on Valentines & her Birthday. Sheād share w/ me when I was a kid, so Iāll make an occasional trip up to buy some for me, and for her since heās no longer w/ us. Both of us only like the fruity cream centers. (Orange, lime, lemon, strawberry, etc). On my last trip, they told me they have quit making some of the flavors. I asked the lady if I could get a box of ALL milk chocolate, and ALL fruity centers. She guided me to a box, which I bought (13 pieces for $15+). When I got home, it was all milk chocolate like I asked, but it had all kinds of different centers in it. Turns out there were 4 fruity ones, and 9 that I donāt like. I bought it on a Friday, and I went back Monday hoping to get it fixed because although the candy is good, it isnāt $4 per piece good!!! I had the box they sold me in the car, but when I went in, the lady said āI was here Friday, and I donāt remember you.ā After I clarified the time, she remembered she was at lunch, and the owner is who sold me the candy. I know they couldnāt re-sell what had came home w/ me, but I wanted to return it so they didnāt think I was trying to get anything for free. I just wanted what I originally asked for. I left, empty handed, and out of luck. I enjoyed the 4 fruity ones that I had, but I just threw out the remaining ones (after a month), which reminded me of this poor experience, hence the review. The candy is great! Some of my favorite chocolate, and one of the only places I know to get the fruity centers that we like. However, be sure you get what you asked for, because it can become some extremely costly candy if you end up having to toss out most of it as I did because it was wrong, &...
Read moreThe kids loved it because of the outside gingerbread house paint on the building is cute and inviting however, my wallet sure wasn't happy. By the time four kids and myself picked out a few things each and the kids got the little cheap kiddie candy stuff that they didn't even make there, I had spent 84 dollars! And I mean it was kind of worth it only because of the smiles on my kids' faces and they really enjoyed it. But other than that... No, totally not worth it. Not a very good selection for one, but other than that, the outside of the store is deceiving. Because, when you go in, the actual store is only about 25% of the whole space. The rest is kitchen space. Which I don't really understand why they would need that much kitchen space when they only have a selection of chocolates that they actually made on a wall only about 40 ft long if that. I mean call me biased or whatever because I am from Reno Nevada and grew up a few miles from The Chocolate Factory in Washoe Valley NV and went up to Virginia City at least once a year where they have the ultimate best candy shops and them making it on display in the window for all to see is one of my best memories as a child and having been born in San Jose California and going to visit family there at least once a year going to the Santa Cruz boardwalk where they make salt water taffy right before your eyes to, I guess my expectations were to high. 𤷠All I can say is come on Lexington, you can do better...
