Donut Days Bakery — Restaurant in Lexington

My daughter wanted a “snow tiger” on her 8th birthday cake, not knowing where I’d find such a thing we looked at their huge selection book and found exactly what she wanted. The cake was absolutely beautiful when we picked it up, almost didn’t want to eat it! Her friends and even parents commented on how “cool” and how “awesome” her cake was, even asked me where we got it. Not to mention the customer service we received while placing the order. My daughter changed her mind several times when she was picking out colors for borders and extra things she wanted, the lady that helped us was so kind and patient it was obvious she wanted my daughter to feel special about her cake. So this place came highly recommended for us coming from out of state. I called and reserved a 2 layer cake using the Crown Royal colors. When I ordered the cake I specifically asked for the purple & gold and sent a picture. I was never told that the bakery couldn't do this color scheme, so I ordered. This was for a 50th birthday and all details mattered to me, I ordered it on 7/10 to be picked up on 7/16. Well what I ordered and paid for was not what I asked for. I had a purple and bright yellow cake(not Crown colors) and to make it worse the owner had the nerve to state there is no way to make gold color icing, not the case I've seen other cakes with CR theme, its that your shop that isn't skilled to make the icing. I was very disappointed and paid full price for a cake I didn't order and I will NEVER use this shop again...

For a doughnut shop I give it a five. I'm not a big fan of doughnuts but I've eaten them enough to know which ones are good and which ones are not. Every now and then I'll buy doughnuts and mow them down with a glass of milk. Their doughnuts are really good and they take pride in their own work. I'd most definitely recommend this spot to anyone coming into Lexington, KY or just for people who do not know this spot to stop by there. If they are doughnut fans, I guarantee you that you won't be disappointed. It's in a hidden corner on Southland drive and if attention is not taken, one could drive past the place without even knowing what was in the building.
