I just hosted a very large party at Austin’s Fuel Room and had an extremely noteworthy bad experience. I have always loved Austin’s and been a huge advocate, introducing many people to the venue (as well as referred another big party). There were many great things that night but some sizable misses (food was served buffet despite being told it would be passed and stations, there were supposed to be servers upstairs taking drink orders so older people didn’t have to go up and down the stairs, one of the main dishes wasn’t prepared the way we had sampled it, placement of dessert was awkward and crowded). However the most off-putting that led me to post this was that I tried on 3 separate occasions (in writing) to get the invoice to pay ahead of time. It was never provided. Then we were aggressively forced to pay at the end of the night and charged a $500 credit card fee because that was all we had. I was told it could be reversed Monday when sorted out with our contact. Despite 4 phone calls and 5 emails, we’ve been completely GHOSTED! Never returned a single correspondence. As a result, I feel that I can never return there again and the only recourse I have is to share my feelings with as many people as possible. I find this incredibly sad given it was such a lovely day and could have been handled so differently. Austin’s,...
Read moreWent to see a show here a couple of weeks ago. I had a great time in spite of one of the worst cocktail waitresses I've come across in a long time. In another lifetime I worked in restaurants and bars and have seen this type of waitress. I made the mistake of paying cash and am still waiting for my change (not really, I know I won't see it) and the glass of water I asked for when she took my order and again after she took my money. After stiffing me on my change, she didn't come back to the table until after I had already gone to the bar twice myself. When she did come back I got a "F you" look when I wouldn't order another drink from her.
So a lot of words to justify a low star rating. Too bad because the venue was nice and the band was excellent. I'm in no rush to go back and when I do will be sure to steer clear of a...
Read moreI came to this venue with a broken foot, using a cane, and found out there is no ADA seating available unless you pay extra. I wasn’t asking for special treatment—just a simple chair so I didn’t have to stand in pain for hours.
Every other concert venue I’ve been to, big or small, has a designated ADA or accessible seating area. Here, the choice was:
Stand and suffer through the pain, or
Pay more just to sit down.
This is incredibly disappointing and feels like people with mobility issues are being taken advantage of rather than accommodated. If you use a cane, crutches, a knee scooter, have back issues, or any condition that makes standing difficult—this is not the place for you.
Accessibility shouldn’t be a luxury. It...
