Have to update, unfortunately. I recently boarded Layla for 4 days and upon picking her up was told she cannot return. They did not blame my dog, placing the blame on their “format”. However, Layla was the one sequestered during the entire time. She’s a Malinois and is definitely high drive and high energy. Although it never came up before, this time she apparently became overstimulated and it led to some defensive behavior. I don’t know details, but I can only assume she was mobbed by all the dogs and it overwhelmed her. She’s never been aggressive towards any dog and she’s been attacked twice at the park.
I wish I knew more in detail what occurred so I could avoid places that have a similar format. I have found a few through calls that are more thorough in placement, have smaller play groups, and for about the same cost. I will admit there was too large of a break between this boarding and the last. Socialization skills must be maintained and I will do better moving forward with that. She was getting far more time at the park and other places…I just thought it was enough.
Being that we were less than a two hour drive away, I wish they would have called to let me know about the situation. I would have picked her up rather than let her sit caged up for 4 days.
Aside from this series of unfortunate events, I never felt anyone I met didn’t care about the dogs there. A couple of...
Read moreAfter meeting the owner at a chamber even 15 years ago our family finally decided to get a dog. Our sweet little Penny is just a joy to have. The staff at funnybones loves dogs. They are kind to the animals and very responsible when it comes to taking care of your beloved pets. They even have refrigerators available for perishable food you may have or medicine that your pet needs to be kept cool. From checking to pickup I feel like they love my dog as much as I do. And my girl comes back exhausted. She has played her little heart out. The pea gravel they put in helps with the muddy situations but if you know your dog loves the rain and to roll in the mud they also offer an add on bath which may be worth looking into. My dog came back the same as when I left her and was not soiled. If you are looking to support local business that is women owned (I know I am) funnybones is the only option I would choose. I looked into other businesses and funny bones encourages free play and getting out whereas so many others crate the whole day since they don’t have room for the play. Thank you funnybones for taking care of my...
Read moreThese guys are great! My dogs are my babies, and one time when I left my puppy there, they found an ulcer on his foot I was unaware of. We were in Colorado, so we felt helpless. They called me, and told me about the issue. They took him to the Vet, treated his wound, and he ended up having to stay overnight there. If they did not find it, it could have turned into a very serious problem, where he could have even lost his paw (it was infected.) But he healed perfectly, and I am so thankful that they were so vigilant and found the problem. I have taken my dogs there many times besides this, and they have always been wonderful. If you need a trustworthy company to leave your dogs with, I highly recommend...
