Wow I was really impressed with this place. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is really nice. Somethings that stood out to me: We went to a tour and tasting on a Sunday, and the owner himself gave the tour... not some random employee. The owner was there on a Sunday, now that's passion. His tour was not boring, very knowledgeable and was great to learn about other spirits like Gin, Vodka, and Tequila. The tour was not long either, but felt like we learned a great amount, the most important parts of what you need to know. The Tour and Tasting was FREE?? I couldn't believe it. A full tour and then sample of SIX types of drinks. Really blown away they are doing that for free. You can tell this is why the place has grown so rapidly, you see their bourbon in almost every store now in CT. They just bought a $500K pot still to up their production, and rented a whole new warehouse. And of course the most important part... was the spirits good? YES the bourbon was fantastic, as well as their others. They even make maple syrup that was out of this world. Definitely worth the tour and tasting, you will be leaving with a few bottles and some hip...
Read moreMet them at a craft beverage festival (neighbors) yesterday, and while only sampling one of their offerings, it absolutely merited an acknowledgement. The Double Barrel Bourbon teases an enticing aroma when opening the glass bottle. A mix of spice notes lead off the first sip, balancing a buttery-caramel "mid-taste" and finish with vanilla-like notes, warm with almost a hint of cinnamon at the end. Smoothness belies that it's bottled at over 90 proof. This gem from northwest Connecticut would have a lot of distillers in Kentucky worried. They have a nice selection of spirits and were wonderfully engaging during the event, recalling the history of their company and philosophy in crafting such an outstanding bourbon. We'll be happy to take a trip to their distillery and sample some of their other offerings. And I'm looking forward to sipping the Double Barrel Bourbon with some dark chocolate. It's the bourbon that you WON'T want to share with your...
Read moreI had the pleasure of being part of a tasting at CADILLAC OF GREENWICH as the revealed a new vehicle. Sharon did an exceptional job. I first started with the gin; normally my drink is a bombay and 7up but tasting this gin straight was so smooth it didn't require a mixer to ease the flavor. My opinion on the gin is that it is amazing and definitely something to be tried. Than I went ahead and tried the bourbon coffee, I mean why not its a cold brew blend and it had me sold from then on. It was extreme and I loved it. Which this leads me to the last product i tried and had to save it for the end. The SPIKED LEMONADE is like no other, it was by far the best spiked lemonade I have tried. You do not get the sugar overload and its actually a great cocktail. I most certainly will be taking a tour of the actual distillery soon! Thank you Sharon and everyone else at the Litchfield Distillery for an...
