I recently purchased a sofa/recliner combo from HOM Furniture, and the experience was pleasant, although there were some hiccups, but all was made right in the end which is the primary purpose of my 5 star review today. I worked with April Volkers at the Little Canada HOM who helped find me the furniture I ultimately selected - she was very helpful, friendly and informative throughout the purchasing process. I wasn’t closing on my new home for a month yet, and she allowed me to put a 10% down payment on some pieces of furniture until then (so I could measure the space - I initially wanted a full sectional but alas, it would not fit) so they wouldn’t sell out which I greatly appreciated. I then adjusted my order when the time came to the couch/recliner combo and scheduled delivery for 6 days after my closing (yesterday). I was very excited as this was the most expensive furniture set I’ve purchased in my life thus far, and I was checking the website to see where the delivery truck was, but it wouldn’t recognize my information so I thought it was just a website issue, as I had received an email letting me know delivery should occur between 1:45pm-3:45pm. That time came and went, so I called HOM to inquire. It was then that I discovered that an incorrect, unknown phone number was accidentally added to my purchase instead of my actual phone number so the delivery drivers skipped my address as they were unable to reach me by phone. I was told that the truck was “done for the day” and couldn’t circle back to me, and that I needed to reschedule for next Tuesday (4 days from today so not a huge deal but still). The woman I spoke with did check to see if any trucks could be rerouted to come sooner but no luck there. In any case, they updated my phone number and I asked if there was any sort of credit I could receive for the error and a manager refunded my $180.00 delivery fee which I was satisfied with. We’re all human, we all make mistakes and the mistake was reconciled satisfactorily so I have no qualms with continuing to do further business with HOM and recommending them to friends and family. The Thomas Cole valeur leather couch and recliner combo are extremely comfortable and wide/long enough for a 6’2” guy like myself and I always struggle finding recliners where my legs and feet aren’t hanging off, so thanks for taking care of us tall folks...
   Read morePlace had a great showroom selection, and really great prices. Went in expecting there would be delays and out of stocks as well as staff shortage, since that is the norm now, and spent my time picking multiple items I was interested in, in hopes of finding one in stock.
Unfortunately, around 50% of the items I was interested in were not listed on the company website, and it took quite a while to find an associate to help. Once I did, they informed me my number one choice item was out of stock, and then literally sprinted off before I could ask about future availability or if I could order and wait, see if it was at another location, or inquire about if anything else I was interested in was in stock for purchase. I waited a while, bewildered, to see if they or someone else would come back to help me, but no one did, and I left feeling pretty angry and without being able to make a purchase. I'm still kind of upset about it days later, since the prices were very good and I'd spent a lot of time making selections, and I'm having to settle for something at a different store simply because I couldn't figure out if anything at this place was even an option for the future.
Maybe if staff shortages are this much of a problem, a solution could be found to make things easier for customers to serve themselves? Out of stock notifications on the items? More items in the showroom represented on the website? Information about placing orders for backordered items or some kind of waiting list if that's...
   Read moreWe visited a few different furniture stores until a friend recommended we try Dock 86. This was our first big adult furniture purchase and we were pretty intimidated. We wandered around for a few minutes before Richard came over to introduce himself and ask if we needed any assistance. He first ran us through the whole procedure - financing vs buying outright, leather vs cloth, storage until the move, and what delivery would look like in May. Then we were able to run around the entire store (which is huge with a great selection for any budget), sitting on dozens of different couches and sectionals, trying out different pillows and mattresses, and finally picking out the perfect bed frame and nightstands. I never once felt rushed to make a decision or pressured to purchase the most expensive item in the store. We went back and forth multiple times measuring and then re-measuring to make sure everything fit in our new place. Richard was incredibly patient as he continued to explain to me how a sectional would just not fit in the living room. He recommended we take a lunch break and talk about our options while he caught up on our invoices and paperwork. When we got back he already had everything ready and Kara did a great job getting our payments set up. We finished with hugs and high fives and were on our way. Thank you so much to Richard and Kara for all of your time and energy! You made this whole experience fun and way less daunting. 10/10 would recommend...
