I used to LOVE shopping at all Habitat Restore locations. Then NLR temporarily shut down (I'm hoping that they find a new location soon). At this LR location, the pricing changed completely. They put insanely high prices on most of the items, especially the light fixtures. Just last week I was looking at old, beat up file cabinets. The price? $50! I've done price comparisons and found many items to be at or above retail price. Every once in awhile you'll get lucky and find something for a good deal. They told me that they don't lower the prices until something has been there for awhile. So, if I go and find a light fixture that I really want, i can't have it unless I pay $75-$150. After it sit there for a month or two, they lower the price...someone else comes along and gets it cheaper. The people are nice, but something has got to change or this place will decline. I know that i's not just me, because I often overhear other customers express shock at the price tags. People don't shop there because they have an abundance of money if you know what I mean. Now I do have to BRAG ON THE BENTON LOCATION! They always have nice things and are on point with the pricing. You won't see any one item sitting there for long. They sell it all just as quick as they can get it. I now drive to the Benton store because I always walk out of the LR store disappointed. I will say that the staff and volunteers are friendly at both locations, but Benton is the...
Read moreA trip to the Habit store is like a treasure hunt: you never know quite what you'll find there on any given day. The back of the store is a large cavernous room full of things like boxes of tiles, light fixtures, electrical items, architectural details including doors, mirrors, vanities, sinks, showerheads: you name it. These items come and go and vary according to what gets donated to Habitat at any given time.
In the entry rooms of the story, you'll find furniture, rugs, pictures and frames, china, and those items, too, come and go and vary according to what gets donated. On any visit you make to Habitat, the selection can be entirely different.
Over a number of years, I've found some real treasures, including a set of china from Thomas of Czechoslovakia, part of the Rosenthal group; a set of antique plates in the Indian Tree pattern; a nice set of carved napkin rings in animal shapes, etc. Photos of these are below.
If you're remodeling and looking for bargains, a trip to Habitat is definitely in order. The shower we built in our renovated laundry room has walls made of tiles we got at Habitat, mismatched tiles that look great arranged artistically together. And shopping there has the added advantage of giving you a chance to contribute to a great human-service...
