People are nice for the first time but they didn't mention anything about the fact that they don't accept your insurance and afterwards charge your crazy amount of money for the consultation fee. Would not recommend people to go there.
Updated: so I made a compliant to BBB and here is the response from this Periodontics office: Mr. Yang was informed when he made his appointment for consultation that we were going to be dropping out of the Aetna network shortly. He was also informed that we would submit the dental claim for the 2nd opinion consultation to Aetna on his behalf and that he would be responsible for any portion of that fee not paid by his insurance carrier. As for the fee; I charge $184 for a 2nd opinion consultation. That fee is for my expertise as a Periodontist with 20+ years of experience in both clinical and academic settings. I do not base my fee on the amount of time required to render that opinion. I can however state with reasonable certainty that based on my consultation notes I spent at least 45 minutes with Mr. Yang. We submitted his claim for the service on that date and it was denied by his carrier as a non-covered service. Therefore, Mr. Yang is responsible for the entire fee charged. Attached is the EOB explaining that. As Mr. Yang refuses to pay for his consultation, we are in the process of sending his account to our collection agency.
I am extremely mad that they now insist that they informed me their going-to-drop-out-of-network status and that they would charge the consultation fee. Think about it, if I was told this why would I still go there for out-of-network treatment and even the meaningless consultation? Again, their staff were very rude when you call them to talk about the fee - I was not saying that I wouldn't pay but just want to negotiate the amount. And then they put you to collection agency.
Be smart to avoid...
Read moreYesterday Alan Rothstein performed a tooth extraction on a molar that I was having a lot of trouble with. Let’s start with the fact that the procedure went very smoothly, lasted exactly one hour and today I am feeling very very good. But that’s not the whole story. When I arrived yesterday I was not happy, to say the least, that I had to have a tooth pulled (I felt like I had driven myself to the gas chamber). In discussing this with Alan, and later his assistant Sarah, prior to the procedure the two of them put me completely at ease. They were so empathetic and understanding of my concerns and, despite his busy schedule, he took all the time I needed to get me comfortable with both the procedure and the need to have the procedure done. Unlike many doctors and dentists, despite this being a completely routine procedure that he has performed countless times, he understood that this was my first time and I had very serious concerns. He took the time to ensure that I was completely comfortable with everything. His compassion , in a world where we seem to find it less and less, made all the...
