I had a puzzling experience that has stuck with me, so I wanted to share it.
A few months ago, I was out driving and looking for a good cup of coffee. I came across this place, walked in, and noticed they were busy packing for catering and getting ready to close. I was the only customer in the store, with two people working inside and one grilling back outside.
I complimented them on the delicious smell of the chicken grilling and asked a couple of questions about their catering options. I then asked for a cup of coffee. They were busy, so I was pointed to the location of the coffee thermos and the creamer, where I found that they still had some available.
I filled a paper cup with coffee and added some creamer before heading to the cash register to pay.
I was charged around $7.50, but I don’t remember the exact amount. After gulping down the coffee in a few seconds, I refilled my cup. When I returned to the register, I was charged another $7.50. For some reason, I didn’t say anything; I was just in shock and ended up walking out.
I can’t recall the taste of the coffee, but it must have been good since I chose to refill it. What sticks in my memory is that I had self-service coffee and a refill from a dispenser, which cost me a total of about $15. It certainly affected my plans for a return visit.
Despite this puzzling experience, I'm leaving a rating of 4 stars out of respect for the great experiences others have had at this place. Clearly, they are doing something right! Still, I can’t help but wonder about my $15 coffee...
Read moreWent there today to get a "create your own" salad. The place is nice, food looks good. I'm thinking this is a good find. Um, nope! Here is my experience: You have to fill out a sheet to indicate what toppings / additions you want. Base salad is $5.99. Additions are priced according to a tier, like most other places (simple stuff is cheaper, proteins more expensive, etc etc). So for me, celery was .50. Artichoke hearts were $1.00. These prices are specified on the sheet that you have to complete to get the salad. You have to circle your items. Total price should have been $7.50. The owner decides to charge me $10 plus tax. I bring it to his attention. He proceeds to yell at me, and tell me "I do things my way, you do things your way". I ask him why he even has pricing on his menus? He continues to be rude and obnoxious to me. I say to him, this is absurd, who runs a business by charging arbitrary amounts? Your menu / salad pricing is very specific, and the total should be $7.50. I calmly tell him he has lost my business, and will let me friends / colleagues know to avoid his business. The owner continues to yell at me as I leave, while his employees look at me bewildered. As I can see from other reviews below, maybe he only overcharges certain people. Would...
Read moreFelt like I was giving my life away when I had to order from outside, which I appreciate as Covid cases are on the rise. However, I asked if the woman taking my order could come get my card, and she said, “No. I need your card number.” Pregnant and starving, I gave in, but she just kept asking for more information all in an effort to get a breakfast sandwich. The only thing they didn’t ask for was my SSN. Thank goodness, someone else who worked there took my card into the building and made me feel better about my purchase. Sandwich was good. For security reasons, I was uncomfortable with stopping here and her not being willing to come out and get my card...
