They have very nice furniture. It looks as if it’s quality…..as it’s Amish made. However, I did not like how Gary treated my family. I was talking to the woman that works there and I noticed my wife and son suddenly leaving the store. I stopped my wife and asked if everything was alright. She said that, “the man sitting in the corner,” did not want her and my son in his store. I found out that all my son was doing was sitting on a dining room chair. He was not standing on it. I confronted the elderly man (Gary) and asked him if he allows kids to look at his furniture (or sit) and he said that my son was climbing on a chair which was not true. He said he told my wife to stop our son from climbing on the chair because he doesn’t want it scratched or damaged. Fair enough, but my son is 35 pounds. I expressed to Gary that children use this furniture and that people with children or grandchildren spend their money on this Amish made furniture. The last thing he should be worried about is a 2 year old sitting on a dinning room chair. My impression is that he is a difficult guy to get along with and he’s someone that will not make business easy if issues arise. My solution is not to buy from him and make the trip to Millersburg, Ohio and talk to Eli Yoder with Country Hill Furnishings. You will get quality furniture at a more reasonable price and much less hassle. He knows how to...
Read moreLast summer (June 2018), we purchased 5 four-foot oak swings. (They hang on a hexagonal frame around our fire pit.) When the weather started to change in the fall, we took them off the frame, placed them on an elevated surface and covered them well with tarps and rope to keep snow and ice from settling on them. A couple of weeks ago, we uncovered them to hang them back up. Sadly, quite a few screws were rusted and broken, making several slats loose. Because the people had been so friendly and helpful last summer, I called them to let them know of the problem. Unfortunately, I was met with indifference. The gentleman seemed to act unsurprised that this happened and insinuated that it was my fault because I had hung them out in the elements rather than under a porch roof. He stated that if I had purchased poly swings rather than real wood, this wouldn’t have happened. (We have a wood swing made by an elderly neighbor nearly 25 years ago that has been out in the elements the entirety of the 25 years and has never been covered. We have replaced one board in it in all that time, and that was last summer.) Clearly, substandard materials were used on these new swings and there is a failure to stand behind the craftsmanship. My recommendation would be to shop elsewhere and it saddens...
Read moreI recently purchased 8 Richmond arm chairs at dining height. I seen them in the store two years ago a remembers how comfortable they were to sit in and interesting with the dual wood. I called in to make a custom order and Penny was so kind and helpful with getting this arranged from across the state. Gary worked on getting me samples and they match our new kitchen cabinets and flooring beautifully! They have brown maple frames and elm seats. They are sturdy and I cannot wait for our family to grow old with them. I am so grateful for...
