Jul. 3 2019 After a few more purchases. Since tis last post everything has gone well no issues with anything or anyone thanks guys!!
Well not rating their store but more their online site staff or person . Had placed an order over the weekend and was sent an email on monday stating one of the three items was not available any more so I opted to go for the gentlemen offer of a same road number replacement. When I replied I waited a day for response. Second day I decide to call around 1pm and was told by the in store clerk that Graig that took care of online responses had two jobs and would not arrive till after 5 or 6 pm. He did review my order and saw the messages but dint bother to offer or try and help me out. The only thing he said was I see your messages but your gonna have to wait for Graig to respond to u . It's now 8:30 and graig replies to me that the two he was offering are no longer available their sold out. You would figure that they would have set aside you partial available order for you till things where sorted out. What a bummer had to cancel order. Sorry guys I've bought from y'all before with no issues but this time the lack of resolution and response time...
Read moreAs one other person mentioned, being a person of color should not make a difference, but.. unfortunately, it seemed to be the case. I, however, was warned prior to by a friend to stop in and check out the selection, but look past the employees. Honestly, the selection was amazing when I visited. However, my wife and I were totally ignored! No "hello", no "thanks for stopping in", no "did you all have questions or need help?". While browsing, the only interaction we had with any employees was the ones that were stocking, to which with every pass, we could clearly tell we were getting in the way, multiple times! Was walked past at least 13 times. It was not a big deal as we were able to browse the store, ask questions online in forums, and ultimately purchase online at a different store and a few items ordered thru Orland hobbies. Wish this place was just a little bit friendlier. Again, it's not a big deal, though. Hopefully, it's not due to color... hopefully, they are like this with all guests... didn't seem that way while we were...

Their staff is awesome, they have a very large stock of HO trains (and other stuff, that I really didn't “see”, because HO is my game), and their prices are generally lower than you'll find anywhere else. I made a purchase from Lombard Hobbies through a large online auction site, and was EXTREMELY pleased, so decided a few weeks later to make the 200 mile trip down to their brick and mortar store (as part of a trip that took me through Chicago) and was I glad that I made the trip. I ended up finding three locomotives and 24 pieces of rolling stock that I had been looking for, for quite some time. And, if your order is over $500 (I think that's the right amount, but it could be a little lower or higher), they will ship for no additional charge, which is QUITE a benefit when you consider the total cost of a purchase.
