Only one star because we could not select negative zero. This business staff demonstrated their incompetence and neglect of animal care by killing our 6 month old healthy puppy. One week after getting a clean bill of health from the veterinarian, we boarded our 6 month old puppy for 10 days. The Dog Zone manager Jen called us for the first time on day number 9 of our trip, to tell us that our puppy had not been eating for several days and was vomiting. Still confused on why no phone call was made to us on day one of our puppy not eating or on day one of vomiting! Jen was more concerned about someone coming to pick up our sick puppy to get her out of there, but gave absolutely no concern for our puppy hanging on to her life. I am assuming if she can get the puppy out of the building, then she cannot be held responsible for animal neglect.
We were out of the country and insisted that our puppy be taken to a veterinarian immediately, rather than someone picking her up. I will say Jen did finally take our puppy half dead, to a veterinarian, which should have been done the first day of her showing signs of being sick.
The veterinarian stated she was barely responsive , had pale gums, low white blood count and low body temperature when she arrived. She was put on oxygen immediately due to her inability to breathe on her own!! The Dog Zone Manager Jen only told us our puppy was not eating and had vomited. Jen said she did not even think that our puppy would need any overnight care at the veterinarian.
We had our puppy transferred to an emergency veterinarian and authorized aggressive treatment to save her life. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, from likely aspirating on her own vomit. The veterinarian believed the pneumonia happened over sometime and not the same day the manager notified us. Even after aggressive treatment our puppy could not be saved and we could not even say goodbye to her because we were in another country.
If we had been notified the first day our puppy was not eating we would have insisted she be taken to a veterinarian immediately. But, Jen is not the only individual at the business that was aware of my puppy barely hanging on to her life because our puppy had been in this severe medical condition for days!!!!! Where is the humanity and compassion for our furry family members OR are all of the employees at this company just wanting to get the "problem pet" out of the building, so they don't have to be held responsible for their pure malice.
This boarding/ daycare may seem trustworthy but do that make the mistake we did by trusting them with your furry loved ones. Now our puppy will never see her...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDoug and his staff are fantastic. I would highly recommend the Dog Zone to anyone looking for good care for their pet. Our German Shepherd struggled to socialize with other dogs at other places and was totally stressed out especially going to a place in Woodland call Lone Pine Kennals. The final straw at Lone Pine was when the owner said she wanted to muzzle our dog so she couldn't bark so much. I couldn't imagine how much more that would stress our dog out so I went looking for a new Kennel and found the Dog Zone.
For two years now our German Shepherd has loved going here as now does our Golden Doodle Puppy.
We really appreciate Doug and his staff taking care of our dogs.
Also...regarding the 1 Star Review by Life Everlasting I actually walked in at the end of this event. Doug was being very polite while this woman was acting totally insane threatening him and threatening to call the cops for who knows what. I did not witness Doug doing anything wrong while this woman raged like a lunatic and then went out to her car parked next to mine. When I left she glared at me like I had done something as well. Honestly I was a bit worried about Doug so I went back in and said he had was waiting for the cops to arrive. I later asked him what came of it and he said nothing since nothing happened other than this lady being a jerk. Obviously her post is complete BS. Doug and his staff are the best but one thing about the good ol Internet anyone can say anything they want especially complete nutjobs like the woman with the user name Life Everlasting. She needs help. If you need further proof just look at her other couple nutty reviews. Of course they are 1 Star as well. Gee...I wonder what the common denominator is with her? Could be her I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy neighbors told me about the DOG ZONE, and I am so pleased they did. I live in Rainier and used to drive to Sherwood for grooming, for I am very picky. But since I opened a paint your own pottery place in Rainier, Glaze Gifts & Giggles, I have no time to breathe. To think of driving to Sherwood for anything at this point makes my head spin. So I brought my POOKIES, (my code word for my two 4 legged daughters) to Mr. Doug of the DOG ZONE, and I truly appreciated how conscientious he was in regards to questions about my Pookies needs, my desires again in regards to their grooming appt. Tomorrow we will be going back, after their beauty appt. we will have a brief photo moment with Doug, my 4 legged daughters Colette and Lalique and a couple of items Mr. Doug of the Dog Zone so generously sponsored for a fundraiser, a silent auction to benefit our HOPE FOOD BANK, the event is called THE SOUPER BOWL OF CARING. For more info on the event feel free to visit my face book page same as above. Glaze Gifts & Giggles, you can see the picture of my pookies, the cute items and Mr. Doug. I will try to post a pic here later, but not too savvy with the puter. In addition to wonderful grooming, the DOG ZONE has a wonderful RETAIL SECTION, and offers BOARDING. Thank God I do not have to make the 4 hour round trip anymore for grooming instead it is now a 14 minute round trip from my shop. Note, the DOG ZONE's facility is nice and clean. Thank you Doug for having a splendiferous place for the POOKIES of COWLITZ, CLARK and...
