Les Schwab has been an institution in my family for at least 50 something years. I've taken my rigs to them religiously up until about 5 years ago when I had a bad experience with some tires I bought at another location. I figured I would give them a second chance since I just moved, and this was closest to me. I got a flat. Threw the full size spare on. Went in, bought 4 new tires. Asked that the rim in the back of my rig that had the flat have one of the new tires busted onto it, the best tire out of the remaining tires be busted on to the spare rim (it's the same rim but I'm superstitious) and that the spare be stowed. I was told it would take 1 1/2 hours. I had to call THEM after 2 hours. I got called in to work. I was told that my rig hadn't even been started on. After 2 MORE HOURS (yes, that's a total of 4 hours to bust 5 tires) I get a call that it's ready. Run around the rig real quick to see that there are 4 shiny new tires on 4 washed rims. Race in to go to work. The next morning I hop in and see that my spare was just thrown in the back and not stowed like I asked. No bother. We all get busy sometimes. I'll stow it when I get a chance. Since I just moved, a month or so goes by. I finally decide to stow the spare cause I've put it off. Lo and behold, it's my flat. They never even dragged the thing out. Here's the great part; the hub cap was sitting on the flat when I brought it in. They HAD to have seen the flat.
I bring it back in. Fella I work with is nice enough. Gives me a little guff about it being months, but if you look at the tires it's clear what happened. Has someone bust a decent tire on the rim in the back. That isn't what I originally asked for in terms of the rims, but I figure, hey, I'm just superstitious. That's my issue. Lol. It was good of them to put a decent tire on. Guy tells me I'm ready to go. I hop in and... the decent tire on the now-spare-rim is in the back of my rig, not stowed. It's the little things that matter, am I right? So, I hopped out and stowed it in their parking lot and went in to wash my hands. Fella apologizes when I walk out and says "I would have stowed it if I had known you wanted it stowed". Seriously, folks, when wouldn't it be? If it was a Honda Accord and not an Expedition, would you have thrown the spare in the back seat? Besides, I had already mentioned this was something I had asked to be done the first time I brought it in.
I'm sorry Les Schwab. After the experiences me and my family have had over the past 5 years (my dad didn't want to wait TWO HOURS for them to change a leaking tire the other day, so he tried to put his spare on himself; they stopped him and told him he couldn't change it on their property) I don't think we can call you an institution anymore. It's really sad to see someone you've grown up trusting and respecting turn into what it is today. Best of luck to all of you, and I hope...
Read moreCame in for a alignment on my 05 town car after replacing the tie rods. Alignment was off, had to come in later. I tried explaining the upper control arm adjustments when they said it was done and they said it did not exist even though I spray painted them green to see if they tried. I asked if he looked at them after paying 100.00 and he didn't even know where they were. I told him to look and then he slammed the hood of my car, racked it off the rack, damaged my radiator, and bumper as he skidded in reverse and then some other dude ran up on me and began to thrash me out of the shop while I was talking trying to show the guy. He grabbed me by the shirt and tried to throw me on the ground. I was so scared I had to call aaa to tow it to ford and have it checked. The car still does not drive like a Lincoln. But unfortunately I no longer work at Ford ad have access to a alignment machine. On top of that they failed to seal my tire bead properly with sealer and now I have a flat tire I had to limp home and no spare. I have a spare but they put it on the spare rim I have and it will not hold air. THANK YOU DALE!! FOR HIDING A SECRET??? Less Schwab also tried to jack me on a set of brakes and calipers on my motorhome after I did the master cylinder and checked the calipers for movement. I also had a issue with them sealing tires on my Lincoln mark VI with 13" wire wheels just because the bead did not have the sealer cement like we used to use at Ford. I think less Schwab is a hoax and they should be investigated for operating a unsafe business. I would have spent 600.00 on my RV brakes to have them free up and seize again in the middle of the road. If I had not already replaced the brake master cylinder on it and left it in their hands to check out. They also try to slip their safety inspections on mechanics because they don't know what they are doing. I also got blamed for my dad's girlfriend's car because they overtightened the lugnuts after I did the brakes and was checking why the smoke coming from the rotors was the brake glaze. NOW I HAVE TO BUY NEW TIRES AGAIN AND A ALIGNMENT FOR MY LINCOLN!!! ON TOP OF THAT ONE OF THE DAMN TIE RODS WERE LOOSE AND STRANGELY HAD TO TIGHTEN IT ON ONE SIDE.... I have severe PTSD and then the guy threatened to call the cops on me like I was the problem. I managed to get the psycho to sign me out on paperwork. But it felt like they were trying to run me out to cover it up.... Shame on you Dale for trying to skunt me when you thrashed, traumatized and hurt me and my 2005 Lincoln Town car. And all the times us as customers have had to put air in our brand new tires or end up destroying them on accident because you guys...
Read moreI am lucky to be alive today. I will never take my vehicles to Les Schwab Tire Centers again. I could have lost my life when the brakes on my Expedition began to fail on Saturday 7/12 due to a technician at the 1420 Industrial Way, Longview, WA location not tightening a crush nut completely on a front brake job we had done on June 25th causing brake fluid to leak. We took the car in on Saturday and another technician recognized and remedied the problem immediately. We called today to speak to the service manager about the event (who found NO service notes/incident report regarding the incident), noting that we wanted them to address the issue with the negligent technician and requesting that the cost of the brake job be waived from our invoice. The service manager said the best he could do was a $50 customer satisfaction credit. I supposed I should count myself lucky that my family isn't suing for multimillions due to negligence in what would have been a catastrophic event considering we live near the top of the hill in Rose Valley, and the winding, cliff-riddled drive down into town to Les Schwab was perilous. By the time I pulled into the Les Schwab parking lot, I had to press the brake completely to the floor, and the car stopped with a sharp jerk. I'll pay dealership prices to have my vehicles serviced from now on.
I posted on my community's FB page (Rose Valley Residents) about my near-catastrophic brake failure caused by service Les Schwab. A couple of our neighbors experienced "the exact same thing" 😱 and other neighbors also had serious safety incidents following service there! After having posted my experience to the Les Schwab Facebook page and messaged that account about my brake failure and receiving no response, I am escalating my complaint to the Washington State Office of the Secretary General and have encouraged my fellow Rose Valley residents to...
