My two 50lb shepherd mix rescue dogs Humphrey and Ellie love it here. I added a picture of them sleeping after going to daycare. From my perspective, the facilities are always clean and well kept, the staff are friendly and professional, and all the dogs are carefully vetted to ensure good behavior and proper vaccination. I've personally recommended this place to many other people who we've met at dog parks looking for a safer, more structured place for their dogs. When we first adopted our dogs at 6 months, they were very reactive and did not know how to play with any dogs other than each other. They had resource guarding and impulse control issues. Although we were able to handle most training ourselves, it was comforting to hear we were on the right track from a professional after a board and train. Our biggest struggle, the reactivity (barking, lunging, pulling on leash) to dogs, people, cars, bikes, etc., we worked on for months before taking our dogs to Ruff house for the first time. Within 2 weeks, we already started noticing improvements. After two months, our dogs were solid and barely reacting to anything besides squirrels and rabbits. It could have just been a phase they needed to grow out of, but I credit their time at Rruffhouse with most of this phenomenal behavior improvement. The staff go above and beyond to make sure our pets are safe, feel loved, and maintain their training. We have also boarded our dogs and appreciate being able to check on them via streamed camera access. We (dogs included) look forward to many more visits.
Oh, I almost forgot. Bonus story: One of the very first times we took them, both dogs refused to go potty outside on the corner, then Humphrey nervously pooped right on their doormat. I embarrassedly brought them inside, where Ellie proceeded to poop multiple times right on the middle of their floor in the front. The staff assured me not to worry about it. Even a couple weeks ago when I spilled dog food walking in the door, they were very kind and helped clean it up. I can't overstate how hard they work to make sure that daycare makes life easier for us and our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRruff House in the Sea is a breath of fresh air! As someone who has worked with a number of dogs in the past, I can tell you that they go above and beyond what you would expect of a normal doggy daycare/ boarding facility.
I have a dog that needs a gentle hand, patience, and a soft approach. He can be rough around other dogs, and needs a slow introduction. Many centers would turn us away. Not Rruff house. From the first email, I knew Julie and her crew would treat my dog like their own. They spent over an hour with me, sitting with my dog, allowing him to go at his own pace and learn the space.
They have lots of separate areas for dogs of all sizes and temperaments, if your dog needs a break, they can do that. There is ALWAYS someone out with the dogs as well. They have balls and treats, and genuinely love dogs.
Another thing that I feel I should mention that truly sets them apart, is when they are boarding dogs, the dogs are never left alone. This INCLUDES OVERNIGHT. I personally have never heard of another facility doing this.
The prices are more than reasonable, and the hours are fantastic. It's great for early morning drop offs and evening pick ups. Perfect for working households. Plus they have their own dog there (an adorable chocolate lab) so you can guarantee that your dog will always have someone to play with!
I've only used Rruff house once, but I can tell you that I will be back, and I am very impressed by their commitment, business model, and love of dogs. If you have a dog and need daycare or boarding, I highly recommend you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen looking for a place where you can take your fir puppy to be boarded while out of town, you don't think about what would happen if your dog had an emergency. When my puppy started showing signs of a medical emergency, RH contacted me immediately and drove down to Vancouver to wait for hours by the emergency vet that he was stable and that they would call when they had an opening, so Molly took Bogey back a stayed with him all night until they could see the Vet in the morning. The Vet sent her to a different pet hospital and determined that Bogey needed surgery to remove the blockage. Being 1000's miles away this is terrifying to any Dog Mom. Molly and her team cared for Bogey like he was their own. It turned out that he had eaten grass and dirt that had created a fist-sized ball that got stuck in the intestine. I don't know of any place that would go above and beyond and care for him like their own, like RH did. I will be forever grateful. I will only take my dog to them for all of his training, daycare, and boarding needs. If you are reading this review, that most likely means you are looking for a place for training, daycare, or boarding. This is the place you want...
