Classic double bacon cheese burger, fries, chili with cheese and onions. And ketchup. Honestly, the burger alone would have been enough. You ever go 24 hours without eating, then order too much? I did. I went into the indy diner to grab a burger and fries for dinner. My day was so busy that I didn't have a chance to grab lunch. Or breakfast. I ordered a classic double bacon cheese burger and fries. But I also wanted chili to dump on top of my fries. The good folks at the indy diner offered to serve up my fries with chili and cheese on them. Good deal! The burger was so big that I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to take a bite! It really was all I needed to order. Juicy. Delicious. Tosted buns. Well prepared. It spilled all over my shirt. Just an all-around excellent burger! But there were also these chili fries with cheese. I'm not going to fault them for using chili, out of a can. At least it wasn't that watery runny, gross chili. It actually had meat and beans. The fries looked homemade. And in combination with the chili and cheese, they tasted excellent. It was too much food for me, and i'm a big back. But I ate leftovers the next morning. Indy diner gets 5 yummy faces all day! 😋😋😋😋😋 The burger was $19, and my total before tip was $26.68. It's...
Read moreWho would even think a rinky dink truck stop, situated in a Chevron station would have such tasty food? Well…I would! Swung into the Indy Way on my way home from Portland cause I had another 1.5 hours to my trip and I was hungry and needed a bathroom. The place was pretty empty, so I had the pick of seating. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were clean and the convenience store was clean. So nice. The waitress was very friendly, to the point that I almost wanted to tell her to simmer down. But, I was tired and just decided to enjoy the friendly banter of someone who was on her feet all day. And I did appreciate her zippy personality. The menu is substantial. Lots to choose from so I ended up with Chicken Club Sandwich, with a side of tater tots. They were out of avocado, but offered to substitute with guacamole, which was fine with me. Service was quick, food was hot and tasty. Nice, crispy chicken breast and the tots were crunchy just how I like them. I had to take half home, which made my husband very happy. Don’t hesitate to make a pit stop into the Indy Way. The food and service is excellent, and the waitress will be very generous...
Read moreNot sure how this place has an overall 4.3/5 rating. Without sounding harsh, there were quite a few disappointing parts to our visit. We stopped by on our way from Astoria to Portland and were seated in a booth. While waiting for our server, I noticed menus stacked at the end of the table and reached for one. Our server, Tina, quickly told me to leave them and that she would bring them over. At first she came across a bit sassy, but to be fair, she turned out to be quite nice in the end.
The portions were large, but the food was very greasy and lacked much flavour, definitely not what I would expect from a place rated 4.3/5.
What really concerned me, though, was something I noticed with another server. She dragged a large bin into both the men’s and women’s restrooms, then pulled it back out and over to an empty table. She used a cloth or tissue, the same one she had taken into the bathrooms, to wipe down the table while clearing items off it. That was pretty alarming from a hygiene standpoint.
Overall, I...
