Murphy’s law … driving our new (used 2020) Ford Transit van home to Arizona from Dallas we started experiencing major van vibration issues and the “check engine” light went on. We were in New Mexico at the time, so we checked to see where the nearest Ford service department was on google. Smith Ford in Lordsburg, NM was only about 30 miles away and had great reviews. We called and talked to “Ryan” in the service department and he said that they would be able to help us when we arrived …Thank Goodness! They took the van right in and gave it a diagnostic test and looked it over as we waited in a very comfortable customer area. Evidently, it was a split rear tire, so we are very thankful we stopped And that it was some thing fairly minor. We feel that we were treated very fairly, and the customer service was awesome! Thank you Ryan for the prompt and professional service!

On Friday 5/23/25 while traveling from Tucson to Albuquerque. We had a warning light come on for to much oil. We took our 2022 VW Taos to Smith Ford and explained our issue. Ryan there service technician said he was willing to try and remove some of the oil. He brought our car back in fifteen minutes with the proper oil level. Then we were told there was no charge. If I were to get a new Ford. I would definitely want it from a dealership like Smith Ford.

Passing through Lordsburg I was unable to start my F-150 so I had it towed to Smith Ford. They were initially very accomodating. We were driven to Silver City to rent a vehicle to continue our trip. We were told by Kendall that it was probably the after market alarm system that was installed at a Ford dealer where we bought the truck in California. I told him if that was the problem to remove it. We were back in three days and told that the truck was repaired and charged several hundred dollars, which I was happy to pay. We drove back to Silver City to return the rental and when we started to leave the truck again would not start. We called Smith Ford and they said they'd sent the tow truck but after 30 minutes the truck started so we called them to cancel. We did not shut off the truck until we arrived home in Arizona. After that it never started again. I had the truck towed to Sanderson Ford and they found a partially melted diode (apparently not installed properly causing an arc which produced heat and an intermittent connection. I advised Smith Ford (Kendall again) about the problem and asked for a refund of their repair costs. With no response in a week I blocked the payment on my Visa Card. I asked when we could come back to have the alarm system re-installed and was told they would order the parts. At one point Kendall said he could just re-install the original system, but changed the story to "I'll order it"... We gave them time to order it and went back to Smith Ford only to be told by "Ryan" it wasn't in yet. We returned several days later and Ryan said it still wasn't in. I made an appt to return and had to cancel because the part hadn't arrived. I made another appt when I was told I could come in and get the system installed. I drove from Phoenix to Willcox the day before so I could be at the service dept early in the morning but when I was 30 miles from Lordsburg at 0800 the next morning Ryan called to say they didn't have time to work on my truck. I went there and was treated like the enemy and told they were booked up. And would be unable to fit me in for days. I'd had enough of their lying and passive resistance and advised I'd see them in Magistrates Court. Kendall was surly and told me he couldn't have me on the property. I called a few minutes later and asked Kendall if he would agree to send me the part and he said yes. Since then I've been told over and over by by the apparent service manager/resident liar Ryan that they sent the part but it never showed up, indicating more of their habitual lying. Everytime I call they say the same thing so I've no choice but to seek legal redress. I've tried to contact the owner but they always tell me he's out of town. I wonder if he is aware of the actions of his minions and condones it. I've never been treated in this manner in my 70 years... I felt like Kendall would been happy to assault me. I was a State Trooper for 20 years and I recognize the indications. The only explanation I can imagine is that Kendall thinks he fixed the truck and I just wanted to cheat them out of the money. I have the invoice from Sanderson Ford for the towing and the replacement of the diode. I also have the melted diode. Smith Ford is a collection...

A solid 2 star service for my 2023 Ford Escape Plug In Hybrid. The experience started off with scheduling a pickup for "Works" service which includes oil change, tire rotation, full inspection and a courtesy wash. I had changed my work schedule to be home for the pick up. Pick up is a no show and I dont even get a call that they wont be there. Which is extra not great because I received an email to confirm the pick up time. I reschedule for next week. Again, rescheduling work for the service pick up. They are over 1 hour late. Dissapointed, but whatever at least they are doing the work. That evening the car is dropped off, oil change is done, however there is no inspection report and the tires aren't rotated! No courtesy wash either. I call back, and the tech "forgot", but they can get my car back to finish the work. I have to leave out of town (hence the oil change), and won't be back for several weeks. They ask me to pay anyway for the full service. I refuse, as the work was not done. I reschedule for when I am back. This time the pick up is done on time (the techs and service manager are always kind and courteous, hence 2 stars), and dropped off with the inspection report and tires rotated. However still no courtesy wash. Only took 3 tries to get almost all the work done I asked and got charged for. I do not recommend Smith Ford lest you get the same dissapointing service experience. Note: I did have 2 previous oil change experiences, 1 was good, the other not so much. This 3rd one was enough is enough for me and I will not be returning to have my vehicle serviced by Smith Ford, nor will I recommend them to...

My truck broke down about 20 miles outside of Lordsburg. It was near closing time however they immediately dispatched a tow and diagnosed my truck that evening. The next morning the parts were ordered and they provided a loaner to get around town. Great service, great work. They were fair and provided straight forward answers. My mechanic was Weston - he not only towed me in but did all the work on the truck himself and took time to drop me off at the hotel that night. I stopped by the garage and he pointed out the issues on my truck, all of which were obviously damaged. I never felt like they were trying to sell me unnecessary parts or services. They literally fixed what I needed to get back on the road but took time to explain things I should get checked out in the near future. It's a small business with only a handful of employees but I was definitely impressed. Just as a side note for those who have to spend a few days in Lordsburg. Don't be fooled by what you see - there's more to that town than meets the eye. Just talk to pretty much anyone from there. Bottom line - if you break down on 10 - call these guys. They'll do...
