Having to deal with the Staff in this store makes this 20+ year Apple patron want to trade in for an Android.

The atmosphere is as unwelcoming & sterile as a hospital waiting room- with scary '1984' vibes of drone-like 'Geniuses' with about as much emotional intelligence as a droid... and a healthy side of arrogance thrown in just when you wondered if they had ANY emotions in them.
I (like so many Adults over 35) tolerate the lack of any human kindness and compassion from this 'Brand' because we enjoy some features of this 'user friendly' brand (yes- IRONY)...
but if being honest, also because it's just the brand we switched to years ago.
On a recent trip in for a purchase, I was treated to a security guard telling me to stand awkwardly at the front of the store, with no once looking over to help me.
I stood there for 5 minutes while 6 other customers wandered in and just walked up to a 'Genius' asking for help. I finally looked at him with a 'What the...??' look - and his response was just to shrug!
SO: it's basically about 6 Staff in their bland t shirts, jeans, and sneakers, deep in conversation with a guest OR- more likely- WITH EACH OTHER- with solemn looks on their faces like THEY ARE CURING CANCER- ignoring new customers. At least Starbucks has someone look up and say "Hi'.
I finally managed to be put on a list - and had the laughably absurd experience of being told to 'have a seat'....ON A WOODEN CRATE in front of a GIANT screen showing trailers for "FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH" on Apple+.
I kid you not.
Like we're in kindergarten - sit on uncomfortable, tiny blocks with NO SUPPORT or back...like a child condescended to until one of the 'Geniuses' casually can get around to asking how they can help.
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU FEEL... HOW, exactly???
FINALLY I'm 'helped' by what can be described KINDLY as an overweight "manager" in her 30's, thick glass frames, curly hair whose way of dealing with humans is to cut one off almost every word- she can't be bothered to listen to paying customers. Passive aggressive to a fault. I request someone else to speak with - she huffs and walks away smugly. Disgusting.
You know what they say: one is unkind/haughty if they are unhappy. She must be VERY unhappy outside of her career as elevated sales person at one of the most unkind stores in existence.
I did finally get help from another manager, Tim, who took time to listen, and figured out a way to resolve and get me on my way.
One last humorous-if-it-weren't-so-telling exchange: While waiting for Tim, a female-presenting 'Genius' came up to help with a small issue on my phone. I'd been standing by that point for well over 15 minutes - after having to hunch over in their play-pen of crates. There were not alot of customers, it was close to closing time, and several 'tables' with merchandise had CHAIRS for one to SIT IN.
I ask if we might have a seat, if I might sit down. With a straight face she looks at me, then looks around the store, and says, 'Um... well... I guess..." - as if this is a weird request from a Customer about to plunk down $1500+ for a new device who might AT THE END OF A WORK DAY and over the age of 30.
Then she rethinks this and says, 'Well... I don't have a chair here.". I stare at her, look over my shoulder at the 5 CHAIRS at the table NEXT to ours and say, 'Um... can't we just use one of those??". The table in question (with 5 chairs) HAD NO STAFF OR CUSTOMERS. And she says, again with a straight face and no sense of how unbelievably STUPID her logic sounds, says, "Well... those are for A/V customers." AGAIN I stare and say, 'But--- THERE ARE NO CUSTOMERS... and its' the end of the day!"
With much attitude, she reluctantly gets a chair. Not for her, mind you - her coldness had her standing over me while trying to make a sale.
I penned a letter to Apple with names of the rude 'Geniuses' and descriptions of their 'sales technique'.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. BEST BUY has SAME PRODUCT with NICE SALES FOLK who want to...
Read moreAfter purchasing my iPhone 15 from my local provider. I went to the Apple store to possibly purchase a laptop or a iPod... iPad. I wanted to shop for something compatible that will sync. I have no idea regarding this stuff. My home computer and Apple 11, (now Apple 15 Pro Max) already syncs. And I also wanted to look at accessories for my new cellphone. As soon as I walked in a was greeted by a young sales woman. She was talking with a older security guard and quickly with high pressure bla bla bla bla. I'm well over 50 plus year of age. And I don't need this in the early evening, bla bla bla. One of her hips was higher than the other. Both of her pant legs had ripped jeans on both sides. I didn't come to the Apple store to see this. Note that this was a couple of weeks ago in late January. I don't remember our full conversation... but there was a lot of bla bla bla. I think that I received from her that no more iPods... we sell iPads? I had to get away from this women or girl that looks and acts like she is in Jr college. I walked and look at one wall of accessories for my new cell... sizing up my Pro Max 15... Then I walked back to the other side of the the store where there are more accessories. Another female sales rep opened the office, employee's door and jumped out fast. Then she approached me very fast and tucked her cellphone lens under her chin pointed at my face. Also, a young male apple rep jumped out from that door stopped quickly pointed his cellphone towards me and walked away quickly. Like what's going on? I didn't say anything. I don't know if he took a picture or I don't know if she was video tapping? It's the cold Winter months, I had a tossle hat on, dressed with clean clothes. Anyway, this new female sales rep started talking very fast... "are you here to look at accessories", she said bla bla bla. The male and new female rep must have seen me looking at the accessories on the one wall via their security cameras before barging out of the employee door? And they must of saw me approaching the second accessory wall? I forgot everything that I and she said... but I did inform her that I was looking for something to sync... and accessories... I asked how much does this cost... she spoke very fast... to fast... She mentioned something like all different prices. I said something like what do these iPods or iPads do...? She said, it's like a large iPhone. I was happy to learn something else. But I was all worked up with all the fast talk... bla bla bla bla too much. My heart was beating too fast. Lens were pointed my way. There were no elderly cool, calm and collective sales reps to deal with me here. I was just getting over a little cold and had a nonproductive couch. I raised up my scarf to cover my nose and mouth I got out of there. I just shopped in peace on my home computer for accessories and I'm a happy man. I might go back to the Apple Store someday? But probably I won't go back? Seems like it's a store for 30yo and younger? Probably it's best to ask a friend to help out or get a referral from someone to help with the computer, iPad or laptop, cellphone syncing? My cellphone provider, one of the employees offered computer assistants for a reasonable fee. That person mentioned $50 an hour. The only thing that I liked was that it seemed like the two females that I dealt with and that male were wearing an Apple shirts? So, I know that they all work there. Maybe have them wear matching pants someday? They must get a lot of snatches and grabs at this mall? Ohhh this Apple Store probably could use a taller and younger...
Read moreToday I went in around 11a and just needed to simply buy a new Mac Book charger. I picked up the charger I needed within minutes of entering the store and started looking for some place to check out. There is no register, you're supposed to just hope someone comes and asks you. The store was basically empty since it was midday on a Wednesday but it did appear that every sales person was busy so I started walking around the store waiting for one of them to be free. That's when I started having a panic attack. Listen, I understand that it's nobody's fault that I have a panic disorder of course but what happened next blew my mind. I went up to an employee I saw who was literally just staring into space and asked him to check me out. At this point my breathing was elevated and my face was hot. I needed to leave but I had to have this charger before I went to work. Basically this man said he couldn't check me out because he was about to close a sale on a woman who was buying headphones. This woman was standing a few feet away. First I asked if any one else could help me and he said "I don't know" then I asked if he could just help me quickly and I would leave because I was in a hurry (again only kind of true I clearly just needed to get out because I was panicking). At this point I'm hyperventilating and involuntary tears are rushing down my face. It's very embarrassing for me but this is my life and I needed this charger. As I'm standing there panicking a different employee comes up to me to help. I thank him and apologize for my demeanor and hand him my card. Right as he is about to swipe it the manager who I saw had been staring at me pretty rudely this whole time walked over and told her employee not to check me out because I wasn't in line. First of all, WHAT LINE? I looked around the store and saw that no one was in any kind of line or obviously I would have stood in it. I started telling her that I needed to go and promised to never ever ever come back (as if I would) if she please let me check out. She harumphed and pulled over another customer who she said should check out before me and this lady DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE THING SHE WANTED TO BUY IN HER HANDS YET. The manager then turned to the lady and asked her if she didn't mind if I cut her in line. Okay... WHAT LINE. Anyway, of course the lady said no since I'm standing there crying and also she didn't have the thing she wanted to buy yet. It was the most unbelievably rude encounter I've ever experienced from this manager. It's no one's fault that I was panicking however, she put her employee who had tried to check me out in an uncomfortable position. She made me as the customer feel (even more) embarrassed and overall having worked in retail when I was younger for years she should be reprimanded for the rude way she behaved. Even hours later after I've relaxed and reflected on the situation I can recognize that she was intentionally trying to be mean likely because she didn't understand why I was crying....
