California Nursery Specialties Cactus Ranch — Local services in Los Angeles

Extremely large place that can be a little bit of a maze to navigate, but I'm fine with that. Huge variety of cacti and succulents with regard to size and species. Lots of them are on my wishlist, so I will make my way back there at some point.

I don't usually carry cash, so here is my primary complaint and reason for 4/5 stars...They have empty pots tacked up to the posts and walls in multiple areas with prices written on them. Maybe 10ish locations in total. They also have prices written on some, but not all, of the actual pots with plants in them (also, it's hit or miss if the plants have IDs on them). I knew how much cash that I had on me, pulled from my account just for this place, and accounted for tax. When I went to pay, it was about 10-15 more than I expected; I was told that they raised their prices since the start of the season. I can understand not re-marking all of the pots that they hand-wrote prices on at some point, but considering how few empty pots as their "price guide" are tacked up, it shouldn't take more than 20 mins or so to run around and change those prices.

Some of the table areas are overgrown with the actual plants or weeds, but I've found some hidden ones this way that I try to hunt for their "original location" to see if I can select from more options, and usually don't find them...so my best guess is someone changed their mind and just set it wherever. I've been elated at a few of these that I found this way.

Overall, I will be back here in the future, but will be calling to verify prices prior to coming back, or at least asking when I hit the front gate so that I don't have to sadly put away 1...

went there for the first time on 1-11-15....I noticed very large cactus growing around the perimeter in front on the street side.....I soon figured out that these cactus have sat for so long 30 years or more that they have rooted from their containers because no one bought them because of the high prices ...I didn't get any help for a long time,,,,,,no one spoke English and they didn't even know the prices of anything.......the prices written on some of the containers were the highest I have ever seen.....the best things there are the metal dinosaurs..,if you have too much money, this is where you should go.............,...I then drove to ''world wide exotics''in lake view terrace, and the prices were 1/3 the price....this is were I will buy my...

This place is really awesome. Such a variety of succulents and cactus etc. Everything was going great, awesome staff (super friendly), cool customers. Then up until paying, I was shortchanged by the dude handling the money because I was distracted by another customer, and their choices; but it doesnt mean I wasn't listening to how much my change came out to be. We both knew because he had the calculator upfront and he took a while to get my change out. It sucks that this is how they do business, because I was already recommending people while I was inside. Be alert. I went on 10/22/16. Not a way to build a loyal following. Besides this one time, I still go because they're fixing the place up, and moving stuff around. Its always fun to...
