Lyon Recreation Center — Local services in Los Angeles

Lyon is a great resource for USC students to stay fit. However, it is too small for the volume of people who use it. If you want to go and have a good workout, you need to go at off-times or else you will be standing around waiting for others to finish. The equipment, is also over-used. With so many people using the same equipment, it seems hard for them to maintain it all. There is always a broken machine or two. All in all, it's a good resource but inadequate for how many...

The weightroom got renovated during the spring of 2016. They added more benches, more squat racks, and finally replaced the uneven floors! There's tons of equipment, and the lockers are nice and clean. Also, the people in the weightroom are polite. I have yet to run into a rude person.

My only two complaints are that the staff are typically very lifeless and they have a low stock of sports equipment.

This has been my main gym for the last 6 months, all during COVID. They have a reservation system that prevents it from getting overcrowded at any one time, which I actually hope lasts past the pandemic. Solid weight room with everything you need. No complaints worth mentioning. 4.5 stars rounds up to 5.

Edit: The reservation system is now gone, along with mask requirements. It's been a little busier during peak times, but...
