Students are working on people's teeth with out any supervision! Some of the tools do not work (suction tool) and the poor students are trying to work with broken equipment. The students are being thrown into a position of working on people's teeth with out knowing what to do. I was shocked to see that they don't know what to do and the instructors are nowhere to be seen. One time an instructor popped into the room and shouted all good? any questions? Of course none of the students asked for help. The truth is they all needed help but must have been too intimidated by the instructor to say anything. They started working on the tooth at 1PM but didn't finish because they are required to finish by 4pm and spent most of their time standing in line to get the supplies they need from a student window or getting permission to do an x-ray. When I came back to the next appointment it was discovered that the previous student didn't have time to properly finish basic procedures and just plugged up the hole in my tooth very quickly. In that second appointment they kept saying that they didn't like how much they had to drill out the tooth to fix the problem from the pervious student. They drilled a hole that is so big that there is a chance I will loose my tooth now! The other thing that was very alarming was that they left my bib on to take the x-ray. My bib was covered with saliva and blood by then and they put a lead blanket on top of the bib to take the x-ray. Then after the x-ray they used my bib as a place to put the tools. I started to realize that if they did that with the previous patients that means that all the saliva and blood that was on the bibs of the previous patient's would be transferred to bottom of the lead blanket those germs would be transferred to my bib and then the dental tools were piled on top of my bib when they continued to work on my teeth. Unbelievable! I ended up going to different dentist who graduated from USC many years ago. He said that the place is so poorly run that he stopped donating money to the school. He said the whole focus of the school is to charge that maximum tuition from the students without giving adequate support to them. The head of the department apparently boasts that USC is the most expensive dental school in the nation. I feel very sorry for the students but I can not recommend anyone to have their teeth worked on there. There is...
Read moreI have been going here for many years. Everything always takes a long time. Overall time being there 2-3 hours. From the start , you have to wait 15-30 min just to get in the seat. Then another 10-15 to start before students get to start. Then to constant waiting for the faculty to check the students work or if they need something they have to undress, leave to get tools or moutwash or whatever needed for the procedure. Then if there are more faculties they gave different opinions...that how I lost a tooth ,which i am still so upset about. I had a tooth that needed a root canal. The first faculty said they can do it through my old crown. Which they did. I needed 3 imes to go clean my roots well. Then they could have patch back the crwon and call it a day, but the other faculty said to remove the crown. Well after that i had not enough tooth structure to build a new crown so they had to extract it which at the end the original faculty said shouldnt have happen, so it cost me al the time I went back and forth and like $2000 or a new thooth. This time I went in and took time of work to try out the new tooth on my implant, but they messed up again, the tooth isnt the right one so they have to make a new one. So take time o work again, waste gas and time and $$. (Not the first time I went in for an appointment but bc of something came up I had to go home and reschedule) After I am done here i wont be coming back to Usc anymore, its not worth the TIME!!! I feel bad for the students too, they also complained a LOT about the school and its unnecessary rules they have to follow (each one of them, and i had like 6 students over the years) Some faculties were super nice and knowledgeable, but some were mean to students, so i feel their pain. Anyways, hopefully my message will count and they will make some huge changes...
Read moreI do not recommend this place. Especially if you are trying to get special treatment done. Went for a tooth infection, first consultation was $80. They said I needed to come in for another appt to see a specialist and consult about my infection. Waited almost a month for the appointment. Day of the appointment with specialist, they said they were going to work on it that day and cost was $892. I told them they first had said I needed a consultation first with the specialist to see what was wrong with me. They also said I had to pay the 892 in that moment. I told them I wasn’t prepared because I had not been told this. So they gave me another appointment where I would get the procedure done. Almost a month later again. Day of procedure came and students were not sure of what to do with me. The specialists there themselves were unsure of doing treatment on me. They ended up doing nothing and I ended up still being charged for simply talking with a specialist . The worst part is that you have to pay before they do anything to you. I was charged 900+ and was given back 890 because I had a consultation with them. They also took money for an X-ray I didn’t get done that day and was not able to get it back. I’m extremely disappointed with how this whole thing went . It seems like it’s students leading students, not sure if they have this but they do need professionals leading them. Don’t come here if you need special procedures done. You will waste your...
