As a huge carnivore, I never thought I would like this place. I thought it would be nothing but salads and I was worried the prices might be to steep for me, but I needed to kill time and went in to grab a beer. I couldn't have been more surprised and delighted by my visit. Cant wait to take my little sis in later today for her first time.
First, the prices are really quite worthy of the quality of the food and drink made by a fresh and diverse array of ingredients. Additionally, you can tell they're not trying to be stingy because the happy hour is GREAT, thats when you should try to get in here. Several food items are reduced in price (like the delicious nachos) and AREN'T reduced in size the way many restaurants shrink happy hour portions. Same with the alcohol, beers are real cheap and several delicious cocktails are reduced to the normal price of a beer in LA without being watered down. Honestly I love that, I've been to several places that are "nice enough" to offer one of their signature cocktails for less at happy hour, but can expect it to taste average or watered down. Not at green leaf, I ordered two and they were delicious (I'm not usually into mules, but theres is delicious and refreshing). The bartender even asked me about my pallet for sweetness and strength of the drink to craft it just the way I'd want.
Now, I think a lot of reviewers have really oddly-strict standards for what deserves 5 or even 4 stars and to be completely open and honest, I could decide to complain about certain dynamics of my experience. But I understand that every new opening comes with growing pains and I stand by my claim that this restaurant deserves 5/5. I had a great time talking to some of the staff and just seeing their hearts as well as the heart of the business model here and someone might make a mistake, it happens we're humans and our memories can fail, our movements can be clumsy, and some of us are weighed down by heavy hearts from things in our life, but Green Leaf wants to give you good food and a great time, so try a little love and I guarantee you you'll have...
Read moreI visited Greenleaf Kitchen this afternoon for a late lunch with an old friend, and unfortunately, my experience was more than disappointing. I ordered the Kimchi Mahi Bowl but asked the cashier if I could substitute the mahi with salmon because I don’t eat mahi for personal reasons. She confirmed that this was possible for an additional charge, and I agreed without hesitation, paying for both my meal and my friend’s.
While I was patient, it took a long time for our food to arrive. When it finally did, my dish was incorrect—it had mahi instead of salmon. I alerted Will, who identified himself as the manager, and requested a fresh plate, emphasizing again that I do not eat mahi. He assured me that it would be corrected.
When the second dish was brought out, I began eating only to discover a piece of mahi in my food. This made it clear that my request wasn’t honored, and the original plate was likely just altered. Will then brought out someone from the kitchen, who attempted to debate with me about whether or not the fish was mahi. While he claimed the cook had started a fresh plate, the mahi in my dish proved otherwise.
At this point, I asked for a refund, but the gentleman from the kitchen insisted he could only offer rewards. He took my phone number and said I’d receive a text confirming the reward was added to my account. Over an hour and a half later, I still hadn’t received any confirmation.
As a returning customer, this experience was incredibly disheartening. Not only was my order mishandled, but the way management addressed the issue left much to be desired. Sadly, this incident has ensured that I will not be returning to Greenleaf...
Read moreGreat new addition to the USC Village! Very tasty and healthy food options.
This'll now be my go to place when trying to find a healthy bite to eat somewhere, as it is tasty and delicious. The salads are all very filling and have vibrant green lettuce, and I also really enjoyed the tacos when I tried them, they even had a good amount of spiciness to them!!
Only problem is how pricey it is, so I can't go as often as I may have liked to. I feel some of the products are very overpriced, but that's typical of these trendy, bougie, overly "I'm organic and special" LA cafes.
The inside and outside eating areas are both really aesthetic and comfortable, I prefer the quieter outdoor area, as it can be really loud and crowded inside. They do have comfortable cushioned seating inside, however.
All in all, a wonderful addition to the area, it's great to see more healthy options in the food dessert that is USC and it's crappy McDonald's and Taco...
