My roommate and I (both females) had a short term by-the-bed lease here for the summer. Silver Star Housing authorized a 3rd male tenant to move into the empty bed in our unit for the last 15 days of our lease, and provided him with a key to our unit before he signed a lease for our specific unit. We did not receive 24 hours notice before he was allowed to enter our unit. This caused both me and my roommate very high levels of stress. As we were notified on a Saturday during a holiday weekend, we did not have adequate time to secure alternate housing arrangements.
Although the lease says that the lessor gender matches in some places, it also states that this is not guaranteed. Thus, mixed gender housing (despite tenant gender preferences) is within the lease guidelines so please be aware of this before renting here.
I also did not get back $80 from my deposit for a “basic cleaning fee” despite cleaning before I left and only living there for 3 months. To my knowledge, there was no damage beyond basic wear and tear.

The leasing company also said they would track IP addresses on reviews, particularly negative ones, so that “false” negative reviews could be removed.
I had a very negative experience with Silver Star Housing and would discourage UCLA students from...
Read moreDon't ever think about renting the furnished Appartment at this place. I stayed at this place over this summer (2023). Not just insanely dirty (floors were sticky, kitchen and bathrooms were dirty). But also the bed mattress was broken to the extend that springs/wires would hurt your back while sleeping. I couldn't bear the pain each night and would keep me awake. When asked to replace - they asked me to buy some mattress topping from target and mattress is backordered. Find some other place near Campus. There are lots of good ones at the...
Read moreWe looked around a lot before choosing Silver Star. We went to the off campus living fair on campus and then saw each location. We choose Silver Star for the proximity to campus, the fact that they could offer us a three person floor plan, furnishing was necessary for us (we all are not from the local area) patio for furniture was never a thought, and they seemed to be more patient and accommodating then the other managers we never felt rushed with them and they answered all of our questions. The pool...
