I have been shopping here for years. I rarely go to Safeway or the other grocery stores in the area. Nob Hill is my place to shop and I'm there about 3-4 times a week. I even recommend to my coworkers what they have on sale and they joke that I secretively work for nob hill. I have never had such poor customer service from a cashier. Romiro was terrible. I pointed out a item was on sale when it was rung up wrong and he told me "well that's the price." I told him let's go check the tag, then he asked if I had a picture. He didn't want to go check the sale tag. He could have put my items aside and rung up other customers while he had another associate check with me if he didn't want to check himself or could have handled it differently. The item was stocked wrong on the shelf. If it was a customer who put items back on the shelf I would understand but it was probably stocked wrong since it was fully stocked and both tags to the right and left of the item were different and the description on the sale tag matched the item I was buying. The sale price was only a $1.50 off and he would not honor it. He didn't even say I apologize or sorry about that. There are so many other ways Romiro could have handled that situation and he seemed like he just didn't care. Love the store and the other employees but terrible customer service...
Read moreNob Hill used to have the best prices in the area for national brands, hands down. But since the pandemic, its prices have skyrocketed and it's become one of the most expensive grocery stores in the Los Gatos area for comparatively average products and mediocre selection. It used to be the down-to-Earth low cost option compared to the fancier nearby Safeway, Lunardi's, and Whole Foods. But no longer! It's now MORE expensive for many products.
Here's a photo of Rice Chex at a ludicrously expensive $8.49 for an 18oz box. That same box on that same day is $4.79 at the San Jose Target on Hillsdale, $7.49 at Los Gatos Safeway, $6.99 at Lunardi's.
Their meat and produce sections are lackluster compared to all the other nearby stores except Trader Joe's.
The staff are nice, though. Check out lines are short. And it's always easy to get parking near the door except Saturday & Sunday mornings (a brunch spot...
Read moreMy experience, after shopping here for years, has been going downhill for months. My number one issue is the deli department. I work until 5:30/6:00 everyday, and go to the store after work. For 6 months now I have tried to go and get deli meats and cheese after 6pm and the deli is ALWAYS closed for ‘low staffing’ reasons. This seems more than a bit ridiculous a) it has been in this state for 6 months now and b) I am certain that I am not the only one who can’t get to a store before 6pm at night. Beyond that it is a 50/50 chance that I can get the organic milk I want, sometimes it’s there sometimes not. Some items seems to be ridiculously high priced while others are at lower price points than other stores in town. I am seriously considering going to one of the other stores in town where they have staff at what should be...
