UPDATE: reached out to patient relations as instructed in comment from them. I was told I would hear back regarding my issues and heard nothing. They don't even care!
The ER is horrible. I went there last night having a severe headache for 5 days, in excruciating pain. No medication was helping and I needed help. I was called out back and place in a loud, bright hallway on a gurney. Plenty of open rooms where I could dim lights and reduce some sound. Anyway I sis there for 3 hours in the hall severe pain, no provider spoke with me. Staff just walking up and down the hallway cleaning all the empty rooms with no regard of me sitting there crying in pain. Nothing was done to help me no iv fluids started, never asked questions related to my headache or asked the intensity of pain I was in. Hearing the staff speaking so loudly at 2am when patients are trying to sleep or me having a severe headache and don't need all the loud speaking. What urged me the most was hearing a nurse say " wow it went from feast to famine, now we have almost no one here" seriously! Then why hasn't anyone tried to help me in the last 3 hours. My nurse comes and says they know you need to be seen soon but we are very busy.....I told Jim what the nurse said and with that decided that no one there seemed to care at all about my pain. So why should I sit there a suffer with no help when I could do that at home in quiet and dark. So I left letting him know that shoving a patient in the hall when there are plenty of rooms then ignoring them seems to be the normal routine lately at lowell general. Best part was while leaving I was past the nursing station and find nurses and doctors just chit chatting and laughing. They could care less if I was about to have a stroke, have a brain bleed, or csf leak and was about to die! No care at all and no one tried to reassure me they did care and that I should stay they just said ok and let me go. Worst care I have ever had. I will be going to Emerson from now on and including today since I still have a headache. Thanks for nothing LGH
Also, the triage nurse was extremely rude I told her three times that I do not have abdominal pain and she still listed it as a reason I was there. And when I see the labs she drew posted on the portal and saw hcg I was pissed! Charging me for an unnecessary test since I told her 4 times I had a...
Read moreI want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible team at Lowell General Hospital for the exceptional care I received. I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy during an ultrasound at Lowell Community Health Center, where the doctor urgently advised me to go to the ER at Lowell General’s main campus. They assured me that the hospital would be informed of my case and ready for my arrival.
From the moment I stepped into the triage area, I was met with kindness and professionalism. Margaret, the triage nurse, and the entire emergency department team—including an RN whose name I believe might have been Megan—treated me with such compassion. While in the emergency room, I overheard a huddle where staff members were sharing someone’s story and expressing their gratitude for the care provided at Lowell General. It truly warmed my heart, and I would love for my own story and gratitude to be shared with all the nurses and doctors. I know how hard they work, and their efforts do not go unnoticed.
Dr. Derek Wayman provided excellent care, and even the transportation staff—including Tony and another gentleman whose name I sadly don’t remember—went out of their way to make me feel comfortable with warm blankets and genuine support.
I also had the privilege of meeting Dr. Jacqueline Calvo from OB, who brought me so much peace and reassurance during this difficult time. She truly cared about what my husband and I were experiencing, and her empathy meant the world to us.
This was my first pregnancy and my first surgery, and I was terrified. But the entire team at Lowell General—every doctor, nurse, and staff member—was absolutely incredible. I am certain that their expertise and dedication played a crucial role in saving my life yesterday.
Above all, I thank God for placing this amazing team in my path. I will forever be grateful for their care and kindness. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart—please know that your hard work is truly...
Read moreWent in to main campus and im on oxygen around the clock the male e.r. nurse too afraid to give his name (supposedly troy) kept turning off my oxygen. What kind of service is that. Lets see if we can put this lady in distress. They have wrong info on my records but its up to me to get it off not the person who put the wrong info on there. rude nurses yell at you. The e.r sucks. The nusrses on the oncology unit are amazing and usually all the nurses that are always there i call the home team are great. The travelling nurses have to go . i never saw a more laxy bunch of people in my life. They arent there to help but get paid to travel. Since the wrong informatiom got in my chart (2 of my dr.s said there is no evidence to support that it should not be in your chart)they have treated me very awful. I have to fight to get false information off my medical record. Their mistake but i must do the fixing, not them. When i called the patient social worker she sent me paper work that i must fill out and then they will decide if it will be stricken. Itsbfalsebandbshould be deleted. I shouldn't have to get the bad treatment now and also fix their mistakes.I am sicker after my visit saturday over taxed my already frail lungs and i am scared to go back. they refused to let me use oxygen until my own got there this weekend. When i decided i didnt want to stay there with them hurting my lungs. My lungs really hurt now( i went in for my nose my lungs didnt hurt saturday) and im scared of being treated badly or them hurting me . I dont have a choice i am a sick woman alone and i have only one choice in hospital. If u have a choice pick another...
