READ THIS POST ENTIRELY!!! I would like to acknowledge Ace Hardware as a store has a great selection of items thatâs why I chose to shop there. However Iâve never been more uncomfortable spending my money in an establishment. As soon as my 4 yr old son walked in everyone employees and customers alike stared at us. My son sees the people staring so he says hello. Before any staff member greets us I (a grown man) get scolded for bringing in a chlorine jug for an exchange. I apologize I didnât know bringing an empty jug was a problem. Tells me I have to go put it back in my car then come tell the cashier what I need. At this point Iâm beginning to get a little irritated that people are being so rude especially in front of my son. I go back in the store to get an additional item and to pay for my chlorine exchange. We get to the register and I simply asked the price of chlorine if I have a jug. The amount the jug holds on the container is written in liters but they sell it in gallons. So I asked the price to exchange my jug in liters and she keeps saying gallons. A simple mistake she could have corrected me and explained we were talking about the same thing and just had minor confusion. But instead she starts raising her voice telling me she doesnât know what Iâm asking her when I just want an exchange. Makes an entire scene in front of a line of people. Not once during this interaction did one employee when there were at least 3 watching stopped her or did anything. Another customer a fellow veteran had to step in and explain it was just some confusion. I apologized AGAIN and when I asked if they had a military discount she got pissed. At this point I was upset and appalled. We pull around back to get the chlorine exchange and I asked do yall treat everyone like that he said no. Then I asked him yall donât see many black people do you. He looks me in my eyes says no and walks off. Itâs crazy to me that establishments get away with racism in 2024. Might as well hang a âWhites Onlyâ sign...

The employees just seemed mechanical instead of their playful bubbly working selves. As I got to the check out my country talking cashier wasn't there. The other cashier said oh she's on vacation okay must be a long one because my hubby hasn't seen her last couple times he was there. People this is our store we know the employees they wasnt the sameđ¤. Well a few weeks later my hubby and I are out to dinner and we run in to my country girlđ. She was terminated BUT HOLD ON by a text People. Her manager Earl Hoskins text her she was no longer on the schedule đ˛. Dude you didn't have the coconuts to face the LADY? Sorry I mean who does that and especially right at Christmas. Couldn't be maybe of warned her or something? I don't know what happened but People she knew all the customers by name. By name that says alot. This location is going to suffer alot because people will follow her when they find where she's working. The manager may not believe that trust me it's true sir very true. My girl was sad it almost had me in tears but I did good I listened and tried to be supportive. PEOPLE YOU KNOW I SUPPORT OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES BUT PERSONALLY I'M DONE AT ACE LYNNHAVEN.    Read moreOn 3/5/20 I ordered an item to pick up in the store. By the time it arrived, I was unable to go pick it up. I called the store and said I wasnât going to be able to pick it up and they said it was no problem, that after a week it would be returned and I would be refunded. Well, I believed them and didnât think much more of it until I went to re-order the bee trap that I needed. Now they claim that the order was picked up. Despite the fact that they never sent me an email saying the order was picked up or completed or anything like that. It was not picked up by me. The online customer service people say that they only keep records for 30 days after the purchase, however according to their records this item was marked as picked up more than 30 days after the purchase. So that should not have been possible. I guess they figured after it had sat there that long without it being questioned that they were free to keep it. It wasnât a ton of money, only 20 bucks, but it is a reason why people shop at Amazon. Because that wouldnât have happened there. I know I wonât be shopping here again.
Edit. I canât figure out how to reply to Ace Hardwareâs response below, but yeah. Yeah, Iâm talking about something that happened a year ago. Doesnât change the fact that it happened. Itâs been a crazy year, and frankly Iâve had other things on my mind than chasing down Ace hardware for a $20 refund that shouldâve required no action...
