I am writing this sadly about a place that we come to almost once a week and order take out from often as well. I have known the family or family members that own this restsurant for many years. We have always enjoyed going there with our kids and grand children. The back room is great because the kids can play on the playground. Tonight however was very different. For the past several weeks there has been a group of teachers and people that come regularly as well. They are all adults who are having adult beverages and vaping at the table. The get louder and louder each week. We have said a few times that we don’t understand since they are regulars as well why don’t they move them to the bar area and let the families with children sit near the playground area. Well tonight topped it off. This same group was so loud that a couple and their very elderly mom had to ask to be moved because of the noise. She wears hearing aids and could not hear anything over their noise. A couple with two Small little girls also paid for their drinks and left instead of eating dinner. Another elderly couple ask for to go boxes because it was too noisy. While the server we had (not the owners) was trying to take our order she couldn’t even hear us. . I saw one of the owners and simply asked if there was any way she could ask them to keep it down just a little so others could enjoy their dinner, I was told “no they are regulars that come every Wednesday”. I informed her that we were regular Wednesday night patrons as well because we see and especially hear them each week. This week was just exceptionally loud. She informed me that she would not ask them to keep it down some. I said do you realize two families have already left and one family moved rooms because of them! She said well you can move in the front room. I said we come here because we have kids that we can’t see play unless we are in this room. That is why we come there. She said well I am not saying anything to them.
I say all of this to let you know that what was once a family owned and family friendly restaurant is nothing more than a bar that serves food now. The language and vaping alone from this group was bad but a restaurant owner letting 4 other families leave because of them says a lot. Even worse these people are educating children. READ THIS !!!!!!!!! If makes me sorry that I defended them a while back.when they were being bashed for food and service. You have now lost 27 local family members who will never come there again. When your liquor tab is more important than the people who live and work within walking distance and frequent your “restaurant” or should I now say bar there is an issue. I am disappointed that a family that once owned and operated other restaurants and built a name in customer service has become this! Sad day for Lynn Haven.
When one of these patrons pulls out drunk and kills someone then maybe you will see that the families that came there should have been your priority. Disappointed is an...
Read moreThe atmosphere was wonderful waiting for my takeout, I asked young lady upon calling if the scallops were sea scallops or bay scallops I explained to her that bay scallops are very small and sea scallops are large. she said the scallops are very large. so I ordered them assuming the staff knew the difference. I came in ordered a beer while I waited for my takeout order. they said my takeout order was ready. they placed it on the counter I looked briefly in the bag and I said what is this thinking it was the bay scallops cuz it looked really small , and she said it's macaroni and cheese. hence I did not order a macaroni and cheese I ordered the crab shrimp chowder a bowl, scallops with two sides, a veggie platter of four sides. so she apologized and took it back after I had fondled through it. and then brought my bag out to me by that time I was ready to go but did not look back through the bag assuming the order was correct. I return to my hotel which I come frequently and stay to work here . My first time at simply seafood was excited to see how it was to share with my coworkers. very disappointed when I opened my dish to realize that I had tiny little bay scallops and indeed not "Sea scallops" at all! I called the restaurants and let them know my disappointment. I was told that she would talk to the manager and put a refund on my card, she came back on the phone and told me if I could bring them back tonight and I could have a refund. well I've already been home and had a cocktail so I'm not going to drive. Very disappointing. I'm a food critic and love my job. Ava misinformed me and her coworker as well. very disappointed that the manager doesn't back it up. Never would look for a free meal as I don't need to, but when you say the scallops are very large that means sea scallops and not a myth receiving bay scallops. The waitress tried to inform me that the scallops cooked down and become smaller. that is not truthful. I know scallops, see scallops are sea scallops are bay scallops well are not close. The compliment is is that the shrimp and crab chowder is very good but being...
Read moreSadly I was not impressed by Simply Seafood. I rated 2 stars because there were some good parts about our visit. I was visiting from out of town and decided on Simply Seafood due to their current 4.7 star rating. I unfortunately can’t agree with that rating after eating here. After a search of restaurants in the area Simply Seafood is shown as having a bar which given our situation was a special need during my visit. When we arrived we were informed they do not have a liquor license and only have beer and wine. We settled for the local beer on draft Hooters. It was pretty much dark water. No flavor. Either old keg or just plain tasting beer. My father and I both ordered the pick 2. The shrimp was pretty good. The scallops were a strange texture and only had salt and pepper on them. The mac n cheese was extremely tangy and cheesy. Too much for me and I love cheese. Before being seated my father decided he wanted to try the pecan pie bread pudding for dessert. Our waitress informed us they didn’t have any. I ordered the carrot cake. The waitress came back and said they didn’t have any of that either. Our waitress, Ashley provided good service but was more concerned about providing a reason as to why these items were out and didn’t offer any form of genuine apology or any form of compensation. I am not one who is motivated by a hand out but the offer would have at least gone further than an answer for everything. It was 6pm on a Saturday, desert, all deserts should be in stock. Charisma is great in the food industry but it cannot be the only thing offered in the food industry. My wife happens to be an outstanding trainer, training servers in the industry of small and large companies for many years. I was halfway through sharing my experience when she was disappointed. I also noticed the staff and crowd were younger. I am 34. Perhaps this has to do with the 4.7 star rating. Subpar service and plain food and drinks makes more sense to those who have only been working and eating out for a few years. 🤷🏼♂️ Wouldn’t visit again even after being told by Ashley “I could try again next...
