This is an excellent store, but the lines on a weekend can get a bit long - I waited about 10 minutes in line.
Ultimately this review is a comparison of Aldi and Lidl, as obviously Aldi is the only true competitor to Lidl in this area.
First thing I noticed was how littered the area was by carts and I couldn't help but think - man Lidl should really take away something from their German counterpart here - carts that require a quarter to use. While a quarter isn't much if you just leave it in the parking lot, chances are good that another person will bring it in for you to make money. There were carts EVERYWHERE and only 1 cart return other than taking them back to the front of the store, which wasn't on the side of the parking lot most people were parking in (near the street). This makes it harder for me to find a parking spot, less safe for my car to not get damaged, higher cost for an employee to have to come out to pick them up and an overall lower appeal to the store.
Once I walked into the store I realized it was bigger than most Aldi and had WAY more options. The brands are similar or the same in many cases, but they have many options that wouldn't exist in an Aldi - such as name brand items when the house brands aren't excellent. Speaking of house brands... so far everything I purchased and have tried from Lidl's house brand was very good - aside from the potato salad. Produce is fresher than at most stores, they obviously do a great job at sourcing products and the prices are roughly the same price as Aldi, just with more options.
You also need to have your own reusable bags, or purchase them and if you use the app, you will get discounts. They also support NFC payment at all terminals and have self-checkouts.
All and all my first experience at a Lidl was excellent. They have great products, great prices, friendly staff and I'd absolutely come back. Sadly they were missing some products that Aldi does have, meaning I'd have to go to multiple stores to come back and the nearest Lidl is 30-40 minutes away, where Aldi is 5-7 minutes from my house. For these reasons, I'll still be shopping at Aldi primarily, but if Lidl gets more locations closer to my house, I'd probably favor them for most of my shopping over Aldi - with a few exceptions due to lack of product...

Read moreAlways wanted to visit Lidl after hearing so many good reviews on the European mainland. I wasn’t disappointed and it was very well designed. Aldi should take a note or two from Lidl. This Lidl was 10 miles away but I still decided to try it out. A new one has opened in East Cobb which is 8 miles away. Need to check that out too.
Lidl doesn’t need a quarter to operate the cart! Produce and bakery sections are placed right at the entrance. Bakery section has legit got a mini Main Street baker vibe. Lots of choices and sugar addicts will thrive here. Produce is well lit and there are lots of it with low prices. Avocados are Costco quality and it was going for 65c a piece.
I liked their layout and wide well lit aisles. Lots of junk food galore but there are good healthy alternatives too albeit on a smaller scale. Meat section has lots of savings and I found a pound of minced beef at $3.69 which is unheard of. Grass fed Angus minced is at $4 I believe.
Tried their sweet red wine and it was ok. Chardonnay was good but not that good as that of Trader Joe’s. They have ton of hiking material which is typically not sold in grocery stores and prices are unbeatable.
All in all, I would say Lidl will decrease your food budget but there is a caveat. High quality organic produce buyers will not find many items. Cashiers are more human than that at Aldi and you the buyer is expected to bag the items. Not a deal breaker for me. Lots of parking spaces and entire premise...
