Back in December I preordered Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. They put my name on a piece of paper. Last month I go in with a friend who also decides to preorder the game and they make him start a new preorder sheet. When I tell them I had preordered as well the employee can’t seem to find the sheet. He eventually does, but it doesn’t inspire confidence. Fast forward to release day last Thursday and they don’t have the game. I kind of figured this would happen because a very similar situation occurred when a friend of mine preordered Prince of Persia. Being that I was in the middle of moving I wasn’t too worried about picking up on launch day anyway. But we’re now going on near a week since this game released, one of the biggest releases of the year, and still no game, and no phone call. When I called today the employee told me he was checking the shipping status, but then comes back and says actually he can’t see shipping status. And that’s it. That was the whole answer. No sense of urgency, no sense of providing any sort of reassurance that I would receive my fully paid preorder. I have no idea when or even if I will receive this game at this point. I understand they offer more trade in credit than GameStop but if I have to wait an indeterminate amount of time post launch to get the game I purchased with my credit, I’ll just stick to GameStop. I don’t really buy old games so the main draw of this store for me was to get more in store credit on trade ins to apply to new releases, but going forward I doubt I’ll be using them for that.
Updated:: to say the owner did reach out and I was informed my game...
Read moreBrought in a bunch of ps2 games and some Nintendo cube games to trade. I just looking for an Xbox one controller and a 360 controller battery pack and plug and play. I knew a couple of the games I had, I could sell for decent amount of money but I just wanted store credit I’m a single mom. I have FIVE wild kids at home that I was trying to make dreams come true for. They lowballed me an offer that I accepted then took the games in the back for a good little while. Came back and said the big money game didn’t work and reduced the offer substantially. We were barely able to get out with what we needed. The manager (?) kept trying to convince me to just let him keep the $$$ game that “didn’t work” and he’d increase my now disgustly low offer an additional $5 store credit… Why would you want the game if it didn't work? Here’s the thing, I wasn’t looking for cash. Just store credit and he didn’t have to offer me much to please me but instead he chose to be sheisty. I get it. It’s a business and that’s the business that they’re in. When we get home the plug and play that I am sold for store credit, doesn’t work. Imagine that. I love local business and I wanna look out for cool little spots like this but… I don’t think we will make it...
Read moreUnfortunately disappointed in my experience here :( The store seems great: a lot of cool retro options in stock and things I haven't seen before in a gaming store. However, my issue is with the refund policy. My partner and I bought two PlayStation games (along with some other games) and were told that if they had an issue or didn't work for whatever reason, to bring them back within a week for a refund. We tried the games that night and one of the games didn't boot up at all. The other would boot up, but would crash about 30 minutes in no matter how many times we tried it. We returned to the store the next day in hopes of a refund.
For a refund on the faulty products we purchased, we were charged a 20% restocking fee. That seems a little ridiculous to me considering I am getting a refund for unplayable games that I spent money on in the store. I would understand if there was a restocking fee for bulk returns of 10+ items, but I could've put the two games back on the shelf myself... Maybe y'all should rethink this policy, because this left a weird taste in my mouth about the whole...
