Capitoland Children's Center — Local services in Madison

I realize other parents have had other experiences and opinions of this daycare, but I can't help but feel compelled to share our experience.

From day 1, we didn't feel welcomed. We have two children and when dropping them off on the first day, no one really greeted us or helped us understand the process.

The teachers and staff rarely engaged us, and in the case of our infant, essentially said each day "put her wherever you'd like." I'm sure she proceeded to rotate in the various rockers or jumpers they have, only being held when needing to be fed or changed.

For our toddler, drop-off seemed like we were leaving him to fend for himself the entire day. We'd say goodbye, he'd be by himself....we'd pick him up, he'd be by himself. Very rarely would we receive a report on how his day was spent. We were never introduced to his teacher and the one time she spoke to us, she simply said "he's an easy kid." They never seemed to get to know him or express any feelings for him.

We attempted to have our child attend this facility. We went on a tour and the place looked great. We submitted our application, but failed to see that note that a deposit was due at the time of the application being submitted. Once we submitted the application, we got a response saying “Thanks so much! We’ll get everything set up for you and keep you in the loop.“. That was the last we heard. We reached out again, because it was awhile since we have been kept "in the loop" to find out our spot was never held. We are now having to find another facility after thinking out kid was set up for 4 months. Very frustration for first...

My son went to Capitoland for the first 2 years of his life only leaving because we moved. We always felt like he was well taken care of and loved by whoever his current teacher was, his past teachers, and teachers he never had. Any time we saw a teacher coming or going they would make sure they said hi to him. The director was always nice and very responsive to questions. We were always told about his day and he came home with many craft projects, and always singing new songs! They do fun things throughout the year including Thanksgiving lunch with parents and a Christmas program. I would recommend Capitoland for...
