Midtown Furniture Superstore & Mattress Center — Local services in Madison

We went into this store to support local business and ordered a new couch and two recliners. First they would not deal (unlike what their signs say) and then told us "if the finance company calls tell them you are enjoying your furniture even if it is before it arrives" Then it took three months to get the furniture and when delivered it was obvious that they had brought the floor sample of the couch! When I asked the staff lied to my face and then I tried talking to the "manager" who has the demeanor of a bad used car salesman (fake smile and condescending no customer skills) who said things like "there is no expire date on furniture" and also lied that it was not the floor model. I have confirmed that the couch that was delivered was more than a year old and also the "new" one on their floor was manufactured the same date as my chairs so what they did was send us the old floor model and put my new couch on the floor. While we prefer to support local business we will no longer be buying from this store.

Woody in answer to your response first we accepted the no real deal to test this store for future purchases as I stated we like to support local businesses. Also you did offer to swap the couches and then after I left called and refused as you stated "there are pets in your house so I will not take it back" As to mine being from the warehouse there are a couple issues with that:

1. The one delivered was a year and a half old and was obviously not new.
2. The one that was on the floor when I talked to you was an updated model (as I pointed out to you to which you just smirked) also the tag on it showed it was made the same time frame as the recliners

We were very disappointed bc it seems the whole business model has changed. We came into the store this past Friday around 5:00. We stayed approximated 15 or so minutes. We didn't receive any help whatsoever. There was a lady sitting towards the back I guess doing paperwork, she didn't even greet us or anything. 2 girls laying on the mattress chit chatting and laughing away. They saw us and ignored us. Never said one word to us! We have bought several pieces of furniture here in the years past but we will never come back. If I could give zero stars I would. The guy who runs the place, apparently his name is Woody Witchard, refused to give us our replacement piece of furniture (which they promised us) for the damaged piece that they put on our trailer. We were told they had our replacement in the back, go to the back and he starts accusing us of damaging it. I told him I'd just go to the back with him to get it and he stepped up in my face and threatened me. Then he called the police on me.
