My husband & I have driven from Martinsville to eat here multiple times over the years because we like the option of a buffet. Unfortunately they now cater more to the take out by the pound customers so if you are eating in, you find yourself trying to catch the food as it is coming out because otherwise it gets scarfed up by to go boxes and you have to wait again. Tonight I saw an elderly lady standing twice by an item because it was out when she got there. After several minutes she got a little of another item. A refill came out but 2 ladies with 7 to go boxes scarfed it up. The older lady came back up a second time & a waitress told her there would be more in a few minutes. My husband ended up with a hair on a piece of fried chicken . We said something to our waitress about the wait for food on the bar & she stated they only had 1 cook. Four men could be seen through the window. One kept playing with his phone. The other 3 were working steadily. No one we saw had masks or hair nets on in the kitchen. Our waitress did bring my husband a drink refill twice but never offered me a refill. I'm the tipper. We mentioned at checkout the issue once again with having to dodge all the to go boxes & wait on food. I made the statement they probably should just do take out boxes only because eat in customers aren't getting good service. Her reply was, I wish they would (do take out only). My husband & I decided that it isn't worth the cost (food & gas) & frustration having to constantly wait on food so probably won't be back. We counted at least 25 take out boxes being filled while we were there. They don't care about their eat in customers. I felt bad for the 2 waitresses I saw working. I hope they...
Read moreUpdate: I decided to give this place another try thinking they may have just had an off day during my last visit. BIG MISTAKE. I found a hair in my food. I told the lady at the register. She claimed everyone in the kitchen was bald, so it must have come off another customer. It was a new batch and I scooped from the bottom of the tray. She got defensive and said, "that's the chance you take at a buffet." I ate a little before finding the hair and she MADE me pay, but charged me for a kids buffet. I shouldn't have had to pay anything. They also should have put out a new batch of the beef and broccoli. They didn't. This is the closest place near me, but I definitely won't be back. I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS IF I COULD.
The taste of the food was off. This is what cultural appropriation must taste like. Every single employee I saw during my visit was Caucasian (other than the bus boy). The people who recommended this place must not have any taste buds.
The buffet was one of the smallest I've seen with very little selection. Half the trays were empty and people sat around for 30 minutes just to make their to-go containers. Face masks and gloves weren't enforced and they should be when people are standing over food.
Their sesame chicken was the hardest I've ever had. The crab wontons had absolutely no crab taste, not even a synthetic flavor. There was almost nothing in the salad and dessert section.
I'm only giving it 2 stars because their broccoli is the most tender I've gotten from a buffet and their pepper chicken was good despite not having peppers in it. I won't be returning as this was the worst "Chinese" food...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst food I have ever tasted. Our server was very nice, even still nice putting up with me taking forever to make up my mind on what I wanted. I finally go to the buffet to get some food. When mostly everything is gone or looks like it has been sitting for awhile. So all I get is three pieces of chicken on a stick and two crab and cheese wontons. The only taste the chicken had was a charded burnt taste and the crab and cheese wontons were cold and gooey inside. So we felt like we shouldn't have to pay for two buffet meals when all I got was that chicken and two won tons and couldn't eat it all because it wasn't good. So we go up to tell them I didn't like my good and that I couldn't even eat all of it and all we wanted was to not pay for two buffet meals when I didn't even get to eat a meal. The woman was extremely rude the entire time. She kept cutting us off and saying so you came here just to insult our cooking. No we are simply telling you we weren't pleased with what we got and the fact that it wasn't a full meal we feel we shouldn't have to pay for it. She was too busy being very rude to even let us explain and still charged us full price. I will never be coming to this establishment again. We don't need Americans making Chinese food, you don't know what you are doing. I will be contacting a manager or the owner about this as well. Because my experience there was horrible and mainly because of the cashiers attitude towards us. I will be telling every one I know not to...
