Fisher-Gentry Eye Care — Local services in Manteno

Great staff from the receptionist to the nurse and even a great doctor. I was beyond frustrated when I finally found a eye doctor that was actually in network for my son’s insurance, and thank GOD it was #Fisher-GentryEyeCare… I believe that the receptionist heard the frustration in my voice and really became compassionate towards my feelings and the situation at hand with my son’s eye incident. She said, “Let me see something really quick, HOLD ON…” When she came back to the phone, she asked if we could come in RIGHT NOW, she’d squeeze us in for 12:45pm, and if we could start heading that way now, that would be great, and so WE DID!! THANK GOD!!!! My son’s injury was more serious than we thought and it’s a very good thing that GOD put it on her heart to get us in that day because at first she was saying they had no availability until JUNE. I kept my cool and remained calm and respectful, as did she, and she found a way to get him in that day. The office was nice, clean, and a comfortable setting. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. The doctor and nurse took the time to explain to us exactly what was going on with my son’s eye after his injury and what was causing exactly what, and we were very appreciative of that. The doctors are very nice, but the receptionists don’t know what they are doing. My son has worn glasses since he was 2 and now 14. He has a very very strong prescription. We decided to change to this place during Covid because it’s local. It took them 4 attempts to get my sons glasses correct. Then at my appointment the receptionist were not knowledgeable of insurance and it took 3 extra phone calls. Lots of confusion on payment. So we decided to give it one more try bc my son wanted to try contacts. Doctors were helpful with type of contacts because of his prescription. The receptionist gave me a price for contact appt. Then they call and change my appt. So we show up for appt and as I’m checking my son in the receptionist tell me the price is triple!!! I asked how come I’m just now finding this out. They just noticed and it’s bc of his special contacts. This price didn’t include any contacts. We left. Not going back. 5 horrible...

I did a lot of research before choosing a local Optometrist and Fisher-Gentry was by far the most positively reviewed. It didn’t take me long to see why.

From the moment I entered I was welcomed with kindness and professionalism. The staff in the front were friendly and helpful. Dr. Claire and her team were incredible. What impressed me the most was how high-tech and fancy all of the equipment and care in the facility were, compared to other places I have been in the last. Dr. Claire was the most thorough Optometrist I have ever had and easily the most friendly, as well.

My wife and children went separately on another day and I was told that the staff was equally, if not moreso, as professional and patient with our little ones.

I feel so thankful that this team is local and so happy that my entire family has found an eye care team for life. I couldn’t...
