Whitmore Ace Hardware — Local services in Manteno

I started out liking this place because of the convenience it's across the street from my house! But most of there staff are very rude to me. I use to purchase something from this Whitmore location. But after all the troubles they've given me. I won't bring much business to them anymore unless it's something very cheap. Which not many things are cheap at Ace hardware. I would rather wait to go to Lows or Harbor freight for my tools now!!! Well now that I see you responded to my review I'm sorry once again to say this but your entire staff at this particular location. Their customer service skills suck extremely suck!!! Very rude staff I can actually feel the vibe from your employees who work at this location in Manteno. The assistant manager Tess she smiles at me but at the same time I can tell she gets very annoyed by me. I still shop here regularly. However I don't want any more help from anyone who works there. For one thing I had the police called to my house because I misplaced my drill bits. The Manteno police officers were even stunned to know that I didn't even do anything wrong!!! I'm still outraged by that incident. It not only embarrassed me. Made me look like a criminal to my neighborhood. But also I never received the drill bit set again. The store manager thinks that a 10 dollar gift card would make up for what happened to me. Really I should have taken it further and tried to sue your company for slander and false purpose to use the law to handle a simple situation. I go into this location and several employees have made fun of me to my face making inappropriate comments!!! I WILL BE TALKING Actions against this company. I'm going to call your corporate office tomorrow as soon as I can! I'm tired of the excuses. I've even had entire order that I had made online but I never received my products!!! I spent over $255 dollars. I didn't even receive one item but your company took my money! That's called stealing in my book!!! I would like my money returned to me in cash because I no longer have the debit card I used to make that particular purchase! This is horrible and you'll be hearing back from me tomorrow!!! This Ace Hardware location is not good. The cashiers need a reality check. They need to climb off their high horses. Their "hello, can I help you?" Is so aggressive to the point that it made me feel rushed. I couldn't even get in the door good because they made sure to address me really loudly the moment I walked in. They starred me up and down upon entering. They talk to you (in what I describe) a loud , fake, friendly sarcastic manner. If you expect good customer service from the cashiers at this location, make sure that you are impeccably dressed. If you are dressed very well, they will most likely welcome you and let you take your time in their store. If you are slightly dirty from doing outside work on a farm or yard work, they stare at you like you are a not welcome in their store. They keep starring at you even as you walk through the store . You will feel rushed as if they are all waiting on you to leave. So I did just that. I left and drove the extra miles to the Ace Hardware in Kankakee. It's much better and the cashiers at the Kankakee location are more relatable and humble. They don't rush you at the Kankakee location and you will feel comfortable in their store no matter your dirty clothes. Hopes this help!

They even create fake reviews. It's so obvious.

Example: someone leaves a 1 star review saying that their store windows are dirty and full of smudges. 8 days later, a 5 star review is posted saying how crystal clear and smudge free their windows are.

Get my drift? Stay away from places like this these people...

I have visited Whitmore Ace Hardware many times and always found the service to be exceptional. While most Ace Hardware's are friendly, this one tops the charts. Prices are going up everywhere, but it's so nice to deal with an organization that actually conveys that they are happy you are doing your shopping with them. Personally, I'll pay more for such a service level- which is one of the reasons I'd much rather go here than make the drive to another lousy Walmart. Very friendly staff, excellent attention to detail, actually walking you to the product instead of pointing, and friendly faces. My recommendation? Always go here first. Then, and only then, go elsewhere- if you can't find what you're looking for. I'm confident you'll find both what you want and the excellent customer service I've described.
