Friendly folks that probably tried a little to fix my issue.
I was clear when I went in with a specific shifting issue and it was documented on my work order. The service desk folks provided a repair to address my shifting issue and suggested a TSB for a different issue. The TSB was trivial, so I scheduled both for early the following week. I had each of those repairs completed.
Driving away, immediately afterwards, I noticed the chief complaint wasn't fixed. My truck was still not shifting well. I drove back, and the service folks directed me to the work order where the technician noted the completed repair.
Unfortunately, it seems everyone involved in the telephone game missed the first line -- the one where the original issue was specified. Yes, the TSB was addressed, but the shifting issue still existed.
I was then told the next step would be a $2.5k transmission tear down (labor) plus any relevant parts, or a $6k refurbished transmission with a three year warranty. I was also encouraged to leave the truck overnight so they could run the truck "cold". I declined, because you can feel it "warm" and I really didn't have any renewed confidence in their service suggestions.
While I certainly hope the $1,030 I had to spend on repairs for an issue that didn't fix my concern might save me from huge disaster down the road, I'm not thrilled to have spent the time, energy, and money on a set of repairs at a Ford dealership with a Ford truck only to have my original issue unresolved. I'm frustrated that the next escalation will be 2x to 6x what I have already paid.

Read moreI bought my used 2020 Hyundai Ioniq EV from them in July 2024. It had three small issues which was the coolant light coming on, it needing an alignment, also the window damaging itself by causing scratches on it which the dealer said it was our fault somehow. They reassured me that it was just the coolant fluid low. Which they said they inspect their cars throughly which I don’t believe. Also, they said they’d do the alignment yet “didn’t have the proper equipment for it”. Once I got to a fast charger station it would not charge at all. I had the vehicle towed to the Hyundai dealer near me. One of the Salespeople named Kathleen in Manteno Ford informed me it’s because my car year was “too-old”. Which is asinine because it’s not that old. Hyundai informed me it needed several recall fixes and needed a couple of new parts. Unfortunately, the car was in their hands about a month. Never even got to drive it a whole lot. Once I received the vehicle back, Manteno called me back about supposedly working with me to get a better working vehicle. I’ve reached out to them, my husband reached out and no call back from the finance manager or the salesperson Kathleen. I don’t think I can trust buying my next car from them as most of their used vehicles have several open recalls which is not good to me. The buying process was seamless, and the teamwork and friendliness among the staff was wonderful to see and made my experience great. My initial test drive with Dylan was great. He was informative but not pushy. Abbie was super helpful in finding me the right vehicle to actually purchase along with walking me through the purchase options. In finance, Lisa was absolutely amazing to work with!! She was clear in the finance options and answered all of my questions. I walked away with a new vehicle I love, and a great feeling knowing that I didn’t get hosed on the deal or pressured like past experiences at other dealerships. I would be remiss if I also didn’t mention Taylor’s service department. I had previously bought a used Mustang elsewhere but have always taken it to Taylor for maintenance service. Joel and the crew are great— honest and knowledgeable service technicians, who are efficient and friendly.
