Uniques — Local services in Marathon

I went in this shop to look for a gift for a friend of mine. I had only been in one other time before. So I went in, started just looking around, the women behind the counter was just watching me. As I came around towards the counter... I looked up and smiled- said “hello”... I was carrying my wallet and keys in my hand... she literally- just looks at me and says: “ Oh I thought I was gonna have to charge you for those items!” Which was my WALLET AND KEYS in my hand!! Like... are you that insecure, to think I was stealing from the store??! Give me a break. I immediately left. She made me feel very uncomfortable. Sad when stores act like this. Not worth even stepping in that store if you will be accused...

Came in with my son & *I greeted the person in the store. We were the only customers. We walked around looking at everything & were ignored the entire time. The person was chatting on the phone, on speaker, with what seemed like a friend but IDK. She was also hanging things on the wall. I saw a beautiful mahi mahi wallet my husband would have loved & my son wanted the shark underwear. I was also looking for a gift for our pet sitter. We stumbled upon this lovely shop the end of July while visiting the keys. I can't say enough about the fabulous customer service Maria and Catherine gave us and how many truly "unique" things you will find here! My friend purchased a locally made frame for a gift and Maria wrapped it beautifully (as you can see:) These two made us all feel as if our visit and purchase mattered, and if we lived there, I'm sure it would be my go-to place to shop! PS...I'm still wearing my bracelet...
