this place had a decent selection of crystals but the main reason for my one star rating is because of the poor customer service I received from an older man working. when my boyfriend and I arrived at the shop we tried greeting him 3 times asking how he’s doing and finally he answers with “fine”. the reason I look for crystals is because I do wire wrapping so usually I am looking for smaller stones. he was clearly angry i wasn’t spending much money because when I went to check out with 3 stones he weighed up two of them saying loudly “a dollar” then throwing the stone at me, second one “a dollar” then throws that stone completely off of the counter... it looked intentional. the total only came to $2.50 and he says in response to that with an annoyed tone, “looks like i’m not working hard for my money today!”. I still tried being polite to the man despite his CLEAR rudeness saying thank you and asking what type of stone one of them were and he says “oh I don’t know tigers eye or something”, being very quick about it and not making eye contact, making it obvious he didn’t care. on our way out we tried saying thank you anyways and he responds with “K”. my boyfriend was looking at their selection of sapphire but I convinced him he should wait because honestly, I don’t think someone who treats their customers so poorly deserves our money!
EDIT: Please ignore the review stating this is a lie. I would NOT lie in a review nor have I lied in reviews in the past!!! I wrote this out simply because of how angry i felt leaving this place, it still makes me angry to this day to think about. I feel very strongly about the way I was treated this day and I stand by it. This review along with my others are 100% accurate. How could I make this up!? I will NEVER return to this place after he threw my stones off the counter and complained about me not spending much. Not to mention they don’t even have a great selection and i’ve been to much...
Read moreI went here a few months ago with my girlfriend. Thankfully since we’re from the east coast we don’t even have the option to return back. The man working that day was rude to us from the start and it seemed to have gotten worse when he realized we weren’t spending much money. I watched him throw one of her stones at her and off the counter while she was checking out, then followed by him making a comment about not making much money that day! Even with any question we had we never really received a solid answer so I’m confused why other reviewers say he’s so knowledgeable. I am very frustrated to see someone saying to ignore her review and that it is a lie because who would lie about that? How would anyone even come up with that if it weren’t true? The selection here was average. I suggest anywhere else in the area. Maybe the good reviews are from people who bought more from him and that’s why they had such a positive experience! Would give 0 stars if it were an option from how we were treated, that is not how you treat...
Read moreI met with the shop owner on my visit, and he was extremely helpful in finding the rough minerals I was looking for.
The selection is surprisingly decent, and the crates of local agate he keeps outside are definitely worth digging through! Some of the most spectacular agate I've cut came from those crates!
Once I had chosen enough agate to fill a bucket, I asked about spectrolite, African amethyst, chrysocolla, and malachite. He brought out some beautiful uncut minerals to choose from, and they have all polished up beautifully. I've already sold most of the material I found there at a good profit.
If you know what you're looking for, this place is a treasure trove! I will...
