I'm working on a project and I ask my gf to go to Menards and get a sheet of XPS panel insulation. She drives all the way out to Menards to get it, spends 10 minutes trying to ask someone where it's at, and between TWO different employees, they can't figure out where a sheet of insulation is supposed to be. So they end up telling her they don't have it! They freaking lied to her instead of doing their job!!
How do I know they lied? Because I immediately called up that Menards and asked how much they had in stock. Got transferred from the operator to building supplies. I tell the building supplies guy I need XPS foam (remember, this is his area he works in, so he should know this stuff) and he has NO idea what I'm talking about. No problem, I explain it's panel foam...kind of like compressed insulation. He says, "Oh, the pink stuff!"
I want you to take 3 whole seconds let that sink in. 3 employees working at a hardware store, none know what XPS insulation is AND the one guy who works with it calls it "the pink stuff".
The professional is off the charts right now. Next time I come in, I'll ask if they have any pink stuff.
So he tells me that have over 100 panels available in the store. Now that I know they have it, I ask to speak with the store manager. I explain that my gf was in there less than 10 minutes prior to my call and asked for this item. She was told by 2 different employees that the store doesn't have it. Then I have the building supplies guy tell me that have over 100 panels of "the pink stuff" in stock.
The manager's immediate response was "She must have talked to one of the guys outside of building supplies". Well, being your subject matter experts don't know what XPS is and calls it "the pink stuff", I think we've found the problem.
I got the standard canned "I'm very sorry for the inconvenience." No compensation for the 1/2 hour of gas wasted coming and going from their store due to laziness. Nothing to try and fix the hour wasted.
I don't care if I'm one block from this store, I will drive the extra distance just to give my business to Lowe's or Home Depot instead. Absolutely unbelievable. If you want to go in there and waste your time with a bunch of people that don't know what their doing, don't CARE what their doing, and will openly and willingly lie to you so they don't have to deal with you, then go ahead. I've done all I can by warning you guys about this and sending a letter to corporate.
Side note: I've been to the Menards on the SW side many times and never once had an issue with any of their employee (let alone 3 of them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have always loved Menards. We spend thousands of dollars a year there. We recently purchased 4 Whirlpool appliances from them. I deeply regret doing so. We ordered them so that they would all come in at the same time and not sit in storage where they could get damaged. They did not all come in at once. We were waiting to install them all, but finally broke down and started with the fridge a week ago. The product manual states that it has and filter package included with the refrigerator and you must install it before using it. There was not one. We live an hour from the store. My husband returned. They had no idea what he was talking about and they don't even carry them for purchase. They told him to call Whirlpool. The handles were stainless and the fridge is dark stainless. I specifically asked the person who helped me if they were dark and he said yes. We had seen the model in a different store and they were indeed the dark. I believe that the company changed them in 24. Either way, I was extremely unhappy about it. Then when my husband who has installed many appliances as he is a contractor and a landlord, discovered that if you level the doors, the handles are uneven. You can either have even handles or even doors, but not both on $2000 refrigerator. I have contacted Whirlpool as directed. HAVE YOU EVER DONE THIS? It is stressful and challenging to say the least. I have spent hours on this. CSR has disconnected me, I did get some direction by chat. Yes, I either need to go back to Menards or call an authorized repairman to come out. Even though it is under warranty, it may not be covered. DO NOT buy appliances from a huge store with no customer service. Not sure...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreāWe appreciate your businessā is what you would hear as a response to a ONE āļø REVIEW and it would not be heard by this customer today! As I shopped for several hours at the MARION location it was hit and miss with the associates. There were some very helpful workers ALLIE who asked if I needed help and checked prices and stock. Others were not so helpful and made the experience not worth shopping this store. I was purchasing one of the last Christmas trees that was on display so I asked an associate to wrap it and place it at the front register. Reluctantly, he did take the tree apart and stood it there. Ok⦠Iām not going to be able to fit a tree in my suv unless we box or wrap it. Again, not so thrilled Associate BRAYDON (did put his name tag on after I asked his name) finally wrapped the tree after a long discussion. The checkout lady AMBER was smug and not helpful as I had 72 items to ring through and I had it organized to do multiple quantities⦠She did not box, bag, or help load anything as the next customer stood in line as I loaded all the items in the cart. She literally stood there with a smirk on her face. I asked for the remote for the Christmas tree and that was like asking for gold teeth. I went to pull my vehicle up to load the items⦠parked, went in, took one cart out, unloaded, went back in to get the second cart with the tree, unloaded in my vehicle, returned the cart with not one associate offering to help. I said something to the manager and she quickly said I should have asked for help. Ugh! Blind. š«¤š Not a good experience and customer service was not on the forefront today! So please instead of regurgitating āWe appreciate your businessā show it. Actions do speak...
