Let me start off by saying that if I could give the store no stars I would! My experience yesterday was absolutely disgusting, I felt disrespected and completely unvalued. Yesterday I was walking in the store with my daughter, ready to spend money to decorate her new apartment. As we were browsing through the aisles, we were looking around at all the different items, when all of a sudden I stepped in something mushy and smelly. It was HUMAN FECES!!! I was mortified and disgusted (STILL AM). Words cannot describe how I feel!!! When my daughter went to get the manager, he told her to go back to the aisle because someone will clean it up for us... I'm sorry but you have a customer that is not only humiliated but also traumatized and terrified that whatever she stepped in contains diseases and you just turn them away. He treated us like we were over exaggerating and didn't care enough to even come see what happened himself. He seemed unfazed by the whole situation which begs the question... Has this happened before? He sent his customer service manager, to the back to clean up while he stayed to make a return... Basically the $15 purchase was more important to him than us!!! The customer service manager was trying her best and was very apologetic, but it was not her place to deal with this type of situation. The store manager didn't even give us the time of day. And when he finally came to see what happened, 15 MINUTES LATER, he told us, "Well it's not our fault this happened"... EXCUSE ME??? NOT YOUR FAULT!!!!!! You are the store manager, IT'S YOUR JOB TO PREVENT THIS! At that point we were infuriated.... I cleaned myself up (took 45 Minutes) and the customer service manager gave us the corporate number to call. I called them the minute we left the store and I got no response, until I called them two more times the next day. I spoke with the corporate customer service manager, and my phone call with her was just as bad as my experience in the store. All she told me was that "corporate cannot offer any compensation or discount, but can offer an 'apology' and a follow up with the store". No one even bothered taking my information down to follow up with me. I'm asking you out there, if this is a business that cares about their customers? They obviously felt that I was not important enough for them, as a paying customer, to make sure I would come again or forget this incident. There are a lot of other department stores that would have loved my business, would've treated me with a lot more respect and hobby lobby is an awful business and I hope and pray that nobody will step foot in their...
Read moreFrom what I could observe and the way I was treated, there is three-tier caste system within the store.
First, the upper tier consisted of the managers and supervisors plus the lower-level employees who espoused the same religious beliefs as David and Barbara Green, owners of the business. This was quite obvious in the surreptitious little huddles, furtive glances at customers and, in one situation I actually overheard, the whispered Bible quotes about how a particular customer would be going to Hell and just to snub such a person.
The second tier included the paid staff who evidently did not identify with what I can only think must be the ordained thinking of the Greens. I actually saw a couple of placards around the store with what I thought was a probably a Planagram display code "p1-2:18". Mentioned it to a friend who laughed and pointed out it related to a Bible verse about slaves obeying their masters.
The third tier was the customers. I have never been treated so badly in a retail establishment, EVER. Been in a lot of stores in a lot of towns. I thought Wal-Mart was bad. Hobby Lobby makes Wal-Mart look like Saks. Only the "anointed" were allowed to talk to customers and it appeared that if the "anointed" thought you were "saved" or whatever they MIGHT give you the time of day. If not, OH WELL..you wouldn't be in heaven so what good were you.
I will never walk into a Hobby Lobby again. The Supreme Court's muddled decision to abridge the wall between church and state this past week sealed that decision even more so.
Sanctimonious service, wage slaves, and a complete disregard for the fact our Nation is a Nation based on HUMANIST principles has really made this a retail...
Read moreDo we rate stores now a days only for having all the items they need on stock? Do we care about Professionalism and Customer Service at all? During my last trip, I experienced an upsetting situation involving both a staff member and the store’s management.
Firstly, I was assisted by a young woman at the register who was unprofessional and rude when I asked about the price of an item. Her response was disrespectful, and I felt uncomfortable during our interaction. I requested to speak with a manager, hoping to address the situation calmly.
Unfortunately, the manager I spoke with, a tall male, did not exhibit any friendliness or professionalism. When I shared my experience about the young woman’s behavior, she then began shouting and speaking loudly from across the store, even leaving her station to stand by the exit in a manner that felt threatening. At no point did the manager intervene or ask her to de-escalate the situation.
This experience was disappointing and not reflective of the level of customer service I expect from a store. I believe that both professionalism and respect for customers should be fundamental values in any...
