Our first impression was that food was good, the prices were fairly reasonable, especially compared to other Jewish-style delis/restaurants in NJ. But the female owner is so incredibly rude, cheap, disrespectful, and not the least bit grateful and/or appreciative that my wife and I drove all the way down to her restaurant from the Basking Ridge, NJ area, almost an hour each way! We came back twice. The place is filled with zombies, mummies, The Walking Dead, very old people, with lots of canes, wheelchairs, walkers, etc. Regardless, the food is still good, and some servers are better than others... But the last time we were there, we spent well over $65+, and left a 20% tip, and while leaving, I complimented the female owner at the front (which she did not even say "thank you" to), and I noticed there was a jar of these very small, individually wrapped sesame candies... like the kind from the '60s or '70s. And I only asked for one piece. So, she had one of her younger, female employees, take it over to the scale, weigh it, only to come back and tell me that will be $0.10 cents!? That is absolutely deplorable, absurd, and a MAJOR deterrent. That being said, after complimenting the business, and driving almost an hour each way to dine there, twice, and they want to screw me out of a dime? And I don't care one bit about loose change... It's the principle! As a result of this garbage, we will never return again. A lesson to be learned to the ownership of this business. Treat your customers with nothing shy of the utmost respect, and don't be cheap. I could have referred/recommended family, friends and co-workers to you, and you just blew it all over a measly dime. Shame on you! And don't you dare reply to this, telling me to go to ShopRite, and see if I could get a free sample from them (like you did to someone else in a previous review). I don't shop at ShopRite. And you can't compare a restaurant to a supermarket....
Read moreI was there with my husband and son tonight. The waiter Adam came over to our drink orders at which time we ordered matzah ball soup and kreplach soup. He brings the drinks no cups or straws. We had to ask a waitress to bring it to us. Then he brings out the matzah ball soup, and few minutes the kreplach soup. Then the plate of pickles. Nothing came together. Then he brings the derma and it was cold we sent it back to get hot. Then my husband accidentally knocked his cup of soda over and spilling all over the table and seat, it took awhile before the waiter came over to help wipe, my husband said lets move to that another table which was open the waiter said no it will be dry, he made my husband stand there like an A------e while he cleaned the seat and table. He should have moved us to the open table, as the place was quiet and many open tables. Then the food comes out, then 5 minutes later the fries came out everything should have been brought out together. When giving the bill we proceeded to the front, the waiter chases us we pay him, he was very condescending and spoke down to my husband which was extremely disrespectful. Everyone knows the pickles come first, the food was good but after the disrespect tonight we will not be returning.!
A response to your reply, only Adam cleaned up the spill after my husband started to do it and Adam said he would do , who is Mindy was she the one who brought us cups after Adam didn't. We did not demand more bread or pickles. where you got that from is beyond me. The service was not like it normally is. As for stiffing Adam ask again because when I got my change it was $4 short so he gave...
