3 Visits, 3 Strikes, and here's a review.
The customer service at Game Nite is comically bad. I'm an introvert and even I require a bit more decorum and kindness when interacting with people than Game Nite is capable of providing. My first visit here, probably two months ago was rough. We went in to buy MTG singles. Of the card shops in the city, Game Nite has the worst singles selection. Whatever you're looking for, they don't have it, and if they did they wouldn't know they had. They hand you boxes and then look at you constantly, unless you want something that costs more than $5 dollars and then they hand you a binder and hover over you—weird, borderline offensive interaction.
Second trip was nothing notable, stopped in to buy some packs for the fiance because they were having a bad day. Didn't think anything of the interaction because I was trying to get in and out that day. Then compare that to interaction three and it makes sense that it was just more terrible customer service.
Third time, today I walked in to look at sleeves. They're in a glass case that faces to behind the register so I waited to be helped. The sleeves are all facing the opposite direction as their color samples, so I had to ask to see two. Apparently I should have known that I wanted the second color because the guy helping me was pissed off about me asking to see a second color. Oh, and when the light was putting up a glare so I couldn't see the color, I went to adjust it and he jerks the box away from me like I did something wrong. The cash out process was equally awkward. I almost feel like I offended him by attempting to exchange pleasantries. No receipt offered, no thank you, no invitation to come back.
If every LGS in STL closed its doors except for Game Nite, I'd drive to Indiana to...
Read moreA super bummer. Put in for the Spider-Man prerelease. With tax it was like $53. No packs!,no pre release box! ,no reciept!. “when the event starts you’ll be given your packs.” Event was at 5:30. Killed some time going to a restaurant I didn’t want to go to. Showed up at 5:25. No packs. Checked in-guy was like-go have a seat. At 5:45 still no packs. My wife called to let me know our dog was having a seizure. I couldn’t justify hanging around when my girl was distressed. Approached the counter to ask for my money back as I had to leave. I asked”can I just get the stuff I payed for?”-homeboy was like “nope, we want you to play.”. This made me furious. Didn’t want to elaborate on why I had to leave. Guy was like it takes up to 3 days for a chargeback. Super confusing. Isn’t it 2025? I don’t know another business that takes so long to refund your money. Couldn’t figure out how they couldn’t cut me some slack. This place sucked all the excitement and enthusiasm about MTG right out of me. Rather than just give me the stuff I paid for, they were more satisfied keeping me waiting 3 days for my money back. Couldn’t recommend. The customer service here is not good. Made me leave feeling some kinda way. There’s other places that sell card and tabletop games in St. Louis that are waaaay better. Go to one of those instead. This establishment is...
Read moreThe staff were kind and the store seems new and nice. BUT, big but... The selection of board games and card games is small. I'm not saying there aren't games but the selection compared to all the space in the store. This is a huge space and has tons of just empty room. I see that they probably use it for games and such but I am really dissatisfied with the selection. I have never been to a game store with no puzzles. Yes I've seen game stores with only a handful but never one with absolutely no puzzles. It's disappointing. If your name has "game" in it and you have a huge retail space. Maybe consider putting more games In your store, add some variety. I have been to game stores with an eighth the space of this one and they have had the biggest collection of magic cards I've ever seen, more board games and card games than this store has, an RPG area, an activity with tables, tons of pathfinder and D&D books and still had a significant number of miniatures. This space is very poorly managed and the prices are boarder line unreasonable. I believe they could do just as good of a job with half the or even a quarter the space and still have some quality merchandise.
This is an RPG store, not true game store. The sad truth is, I'd rather drive 2 hours to get to my original game store than go here...
