Came here for lunch with a friend today, and overall we had a good experience!
We arrived right when they opened, so thankfully we were able to get parking spots and a table. The lot and restaurant were filling up quickly, so I imagine parking and finding a seat would be more difficult during peak hours. They did have some outdoor seating options though, which will be great when the weather is milder.
We were cut in line by some groups entering through the “exit only” doors, which was a little annoying. Especially as staff saw this and just greeted them instead of pointing out the existing line they were walking into/correct doors for entering the line. To the staff’s credit, this is a new restaurant and I’m sure everyone is still learning.
We were originally intending to order from the brunch menu (shown online and on the menus we were handed at the door) since we were there on a Saturday morning during brunch hours, but were told they don’t serve brunch. Hopefully that isn’t permanent because the brunch options sounded great. Thankfully the regular menu was full of great options too!
We both ended up ordering the tender meal deal, which was a good value for the quantity of food. The chicken was very tender and cooked perfectly, and I enjoyed how light the breading was. I do wish the breading had more flavor, though. I ordered original, so next time I order their chicken I may try the hot instead. The fries were a bit undercooked so I did not eat many, but the seasoning on them was delicious. The sauces were probably my favorite part of the meal if I’m being honest— I had the ranch and garlic buffalo, both of which were delicious. I love that you are able to get your own sauce cups without paying extra or being limited on what kinds you try/how much you get.
The staff was overall friendly and attentive. They were helpful when other patrons were asking questions about the menu. They were also getting tables cleaned quickly to keep up with the incoming crowd. The restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere was great for a casual meal.
There is room for improvement, but we enjoyed the food and I definitely look forward to coming back and trying some...
Read moreKing Edwards hates disabled people.
Today I came into town for the first time in a while and my mother and I decided to get chicken for dinner. I asked her if she wanted to go to King Edwards as I thought it was her favorite, and she said she hadn't been in a couple years. She told me the story as to why, clearly while holding back tears.
My mother has a disability and as a result has some uncontrollable facial tics, which really embarrass her and have gotten worse in the last few years. She used to love going to King Edwards as she loved the food and said the owner was really nice to her. Then one day she said the owner was right next to her talking to a bunch of guys, and started making fun of her. He took out his phone and proceeded to show a photo OF MY MOTHER that he had taken a few days prior while she was eating at the restaurant, a photo taken without her knowledge. He said "Wouldn't you hate to wake up next to that? The red headed lady ain't so pretty anymore.”
Taking a photo of a random woman, because she has a facial tics, and then publicly embarrassing her and calling her ugly... It's disgusting. Actually disgusting. The owner should be ashamed of himself. My mother is the nicest woman alive, she loved going there for the food and the staff, so for her to be treated so cruel and made into the butt of a joke makes me sick to my stomach. It wasn't behind her back, it wasn't to random co workers, he PUBLICLY took photos of an aging, friendly, disabled woman and started making fun of her disability. All while she just... Sat there. After a friendly hello.
I wish my Mom told me this story sooner so I could have done something about it. Why would you treat a person like that? Especially one that would always come in and spend money, and be so kind? Reevaluate how you do business.
I don't know why my Mom loved it so much anyways. Bland, flavorless chicken. Watery macaroni and cheese. Instant...
Read moreI live nearby, and I used to frequent this place whern it was still King Edward's. I have to say, the change did not improve anything. I've been there 3 times since the takeover, and it is...average.
I've noticed that the prices have gone up, by as much as $5 for a regular sandwich, but that could have something to do with food prices going up lately. The service seems friendly, polite and helpful, but when I went today, I didn't see any of the familiar faces I'd seen at King Wdward's and on my first visit to Grace's.
I visited about 20 minutes ago, and I ordered a regular chicken sandwich, plain, with bacon added. It took a 3 minute consultation to decide how much to charge for bacon. On a sandwich. I left with my order and got home to find that it had all the normal toppings on it, despite having ordered it plain. I took it back, and the staff was very polite and contrite, and remade the sandwich without argument. The cook brought it out, showed it to m and asked if it was all right, and it was. he put it in the bag, then paused and told me he was going to get me another order of fries. So I waited a little longer with the sandwich cooling, while he got more fries. I left and got home (I live maybe 3-4 minutes away) and when I got home, the sandwich and fries were...warm. And the bacon on the sandwich was overdone, almost burnt, but I didn't feel like going back to complain again.
So, all in all, 3/5. I liked it better when it was King Edward's - the staff knew me by name (to be fair, I'd gone there more than I have gone to Grace's yet, and they don't know me yet I suppose), they never got my order wrong, and the food seemed...just a little better. Cheaper, too, but as I said before, that may not be...
