Fareway Meat and Grocery — Local services in Marshalltown

Pretty sad when the quart of buttermilk purchased Nov. 12 has an expiration date of Nov. 13. Went to cook a few pans of cornbread tonight on the 14th and had to stop everything and run to Hy Vee for another quart of buttermilk and then try and finish cooking dinner. Normally I wouldn't care but with dairy products like this costing $4 a quart, everything counts, especially when it goes right in the garbage. Yeah, I should have paid closer attention, but I used to be able to depend on Fareway to make sure they don't have stuff in the case that will expire in the next 24 hours. And even though I hadn't opened it, I can't return it because Fareway doesn't accept returns on...

Fareway has a great atmosphere and now even better since they are adding on to make it bigger! You can't beat the prices on most items. I love their fresh friut and good quality meat products! Its clean and whenever I've needed help the employees have been very friendly! Even with mask on you can see smiling eyes! Lets hope the mask will NOT be permanent! Alas ive edited this review a couple of times as i continue to go there from time to time. This will probably be the last edit though. Its OK its clean, i find some of the stuff a tad pricey compaired to other places. But the main reason im staying away is theres one guy at the meat counter that cannot take NO for an answer. I should not have to say no 3+ times as he attempts to sell me something. When did they start doing that?...
